Placed my order on 6/22 and have since had 4 straight weekends of generic pre-production emails. Still well within the original timeline, but seems to be moving along slower than most.

Launch Green on the 20” ATs with delivery in CO.
Placed my order on 6/17 with a 4–8-week delivery window. No VIN yet and have only received the same generic pre-production emails. Same spec as you, Launch Green w/ 20". Delivery in upstate NY.

They aren’t using trucks for long haul. As has been discussed earlier in this thread, the bottle neck right now is rail transit. Capacity, delays at rail yards, etc.

My delivery team has been communicating to me that my CO delivery will be scheduled once the vehicle leaves the rail yard in St. Louis.

Rivian will never be in the logistics business and is at the mercy of 3rd party transport companies and market conditions. Unfortunately for Rivian and all of us waiting for deliveries, the market conditions for rail transportation are causing delays.
I don’t expect them to be in the logistics business but they knew they had to deliver vehicles and the numbers are limited compared 3000 a week in 18 months time. They should have had local car carriers arranged for nearby large cities to help reduce the need and dependency on rail.

Who's to say they don't?
OTR logistics absolutely is shit since the pandemic. And it's not getting better. Crappy drivers, crappy routing... crappy customer communications virtually across the board.

They should offer plant delivery option. To get mine sooner and to save $1500, I absolutely would pick it up in Normal and drive home (12+ hours!).

You wouldn’t save delivery - that is a fixed, mandatory fee. It would save Rivian money and get through the delivery backlog.

I didn’t say they did and I was responding to someone else.

If they are having trouble with logistics then when volume increases three fold by the end of next year is going to be an issue.

Could be- like I said, logistics is awful everywhere. Hyundai has Ioniq 5's piling up in shipyards while dealerships have none on the lot and buyer's are hungry for them. My buddy in the wine import biz is losing all his thin margin to the new realities of crap logistics. Where I work has seen the on-time rate of receivables fall below 30%.

Nobody knows what logistics are going to look like in 6 months let alone 18 months.

Rivian will make their best estimates for increased volume at the end of next year exactly the same way they did 18 months ago for today.

Sometimes the market just works against you for unforeseen reasons.

I guarantee you, no one is more concerned with the current delivery delays than Rivian is. If there were a cost effective option that got cars to SC’s sooner, they would already have implemented it.

I just really wonder what happens if Rivian accomplishes their goals and gets the R2 to Tesla 3/Y-esque sales volume. Massive delays everywhere when they're only delivering 1-2k cars a month, and plans to delivery 10-30x that eventually.

Wanted to share my experience and ask if anyone else has had this happen.

  1. I was originally assigned VIN 002514 and a delivery date of 7/14/2026.
  2. On 7/13 they told me the vehicle was delayed in transit, so they pushed my delivery date to 7/16/2026.
  3. On 7/16 they pushed my delivery date to 7/20/2026
  4. On 7/17 they said the vehicle is still delayed and they would get back to me with a new delivery date.
  5. On 7/18 they offered me at-home delivery on 8/3. I agreed to that. Then they sent me a new purchase contract with a new VIN, this time 004145.
It seems to me that my original VIN must have had a manufacturing defect of some kind. I've seen many other posts about people having their deliveries delayed and rescheduled, across many different delivery locations. (I'm in Illinois, I know of others in Washington and California who had delays.)

Does anyone have a sense of what the real issues are? I just want to know what I need to check very closely at my delivery event.
As someone who needs to book a one-way flight to pickup my R2... them rescheduling the day of delivery for you is terrifying me.

Update for my cancelled delivery today, I was tentatively told it would be re-scheduled to Thursday 7/23, Reached out to support today and my r2 is currently at the Milpitas CA last mile hub waiting to load up on a truck for delivery to the SC (Rocklin CA), so Im semi hopeful! Seems logistics are the big bottleneck as expected.

any way we can delete line items 135 from tintin007 and 155 from SuperFeisty? these are clearly reservation and not orders, and it's messing up the graphs, data, and the color wheel.

No current confirmed delivery date but was told that it should arrive on or around 8/2 for a pickup of 8/3. Hoping to get a date scheduled soon.
