… I lost 2% of the charge.

Parked it in the parking garage with the battery at 80%. Gear Guard was on. Lows were around 40. Highs were around 60. Came back about 98 hours later to find the battery at 78%. 26 R1T quad max pack. 2025.46.30 software.

It still surprises me the small amount that Gear Guard draws on my RIT vs sentry mode in our MYP. The MYP will use 4-5kW a day in sentry.

Wait a year or two and let us know how well that vampire drain is. Not surprised a brand new quad only had a couple percent drain in ideal weather conditions.

Once those 12v batteries gets some cycles and meets extreme cold or heat you'll be in line with what most of us see which is a daily drain between 1-2%

Impressive, especially with Gear Guard on.

Eh. It's a car. If you're not going to use it, what's the point? I only take a car service to the airport when I'm traveling for longer than a week or we have too many people or too much luggage for a single car. Otherwise, I prefer being able to just walk out of the terminal into the garage, get in my car and drive home. It also happens to be cheaper for me to park in the garage for trips under a week.

That's really good. I lose around 2-3% a day with gear guard on when I'm at the airport. I expect to lose around 20-25% for a week when I go on vacation. A bit worried about what's going to happen when I go for a month or so. I'll have to find a spot with a charger so I can keep it plugged in.

Why not get a car service to the airport if you are gone for a month? Seems like parking fees would be much more than an Uber.

International airport is far for us. Otherwise, I would definitely leave the car home and uber.

3.5 hours from airport. Cost of an Uber?? Is there even one that will do that trip?

FYI, it doesn't have to be this way. Our OG E-tron sat at the local body shop in freezing weather for 2 weeks and lost Zero percent on the battery! I guess Legacy OEMs know how to do 1 thing right. And using a Local shop vs Rivian shop 3 hrs away is also and OEM plus. Trying REALLY hard not to hit a deer with the Rivian, as body work is going to Suck!
.
Sorry off topic, just ranting. On topic, our 23 R1S looses %1+ daily. On a battery tender and service mode it's about 0.5%.

My Mach-e was just like your e-Tron. It could go weeks and lose nothing, or at most 1%. And after sitting at the airport for a week, PaaK still unlocked the car as I approached.

It can be done.

My R1S sat for 2 weeks while I was away on vacation in September. Lost somewhere between 10-15% -- it's wasn't terrible.

I regularly leave my 2023 1st Gen R1T, with ~22K miles, at the airport. I lose approx 1.5% daily. This is with Gear Guard running. My wife's 2022 Tesla M3 performance loses about 4.5%/day in Sentry mode.

That being said, the Tesla is much more responsive when you need to check cameras, set HVAC, etc...

Just came back from a trip where my R1S was parked at the airport for 11 days. The only 'prep' I did was to remove the Rivian widget from my phone when I was away. I didn't notice any battery loss at all during the trip.

You got me for a minute. Funny thread title. 😆

I love that my local airport has dozens of free L1 EV chargers (I mean, you have to pay for the garage regardless, so why not get some electrons out of it?)
