Yeah I've seen the Comma suggestions just wish Rivian would surprise us with the basic lane keep assist most mainstream OEMs have nowadays
Huh? It does have lane keep assist. As for further development on gen1’s Driver+, not happening ever. They’ve moved on and gen1 production ended late spring of ‘24. Makes no financial sense for them to devote resources to a soon-to-be minority of all customers.

I meant lane centering 🤦 clearly they have the hardware to use it on more roads since all you need is the front cam?

And financially, I keep getting these lawyer ads for "did Rivian promise you self driving?" So who knows?

Class action lawyers fishing for a pay day. If it goes anywhere, it would be settled out of court so Rivian doesn’t have to own up to anything. A nice fat check for law firm, a few cents for each class participant. Click bait for bloggers and stock shorts.

Technically I *think* it's possible for them to open up the system to simply use the cameras to allow lane centering on any road, but as I said they have no desire to put any resources into Gen 1 development.
Yep, it’s the same MobilEye hardware as Tesla Autopilot 1.0 and Ford’s ADAS on Mach-E vehicles without BlueCruise hardware. Both of those can do lane-centering on any road with well-defined lines.

Rivian is just choosing not to put in the development to enable it.

Are you absolutely certain about this? I've just been talking to a friend who bought a 2015 Model S, which he said is hardware 1, and it does more than my Rivian does.

I think it's actually better. From what I can see, AP1 used the Mobileye EyeQ3, and Rivian Gen 1 uses the Mobileye EyeQ4 Mid.

In which case, it would mean that Rivian specifically and consciously chose to cripple it. He says it works almost anywhere. I haven't been out there to drive it myself yet. He drove my HW3 Tesla 3 and said that was better, but not by a huge margin.
