I do like that Rivian seems to just let everyone do whatever they want with the car. JerryRiggedEverything took it to the factory and tested puting a carseat in there, EverydayDriver compared cars right off the back, Kyle just sat there messing with the drivetrain and breaks, etc.

Yeah….I’ve only read three videos so far, but this is the reason I tend to be skeptical about some of the so called journalists.

(Full disclosure: Rivian flew me to Park City, Utah and put journalists up in a swanky hotel for the launch of the R2. Meals and test cars were provided.)

But they didn't provide brothel services. So all is good,

Anybody surprised by some reviewers' description of the haptic wheels feeling "chintzy"? Those who have been in the car, thoughts?

At the block party, it wasn't clear how good the haptic wheels were. I wasn't necessarily amazed but just assumed it was because the car was static and maybe software not dialed in.

I test drove yesterday, there's definitely a learning curve using them. They felt solid to me, nice metallic and the clicks scrolling felt good. But the push/pull and sideways movements were difficult for me, I'm sure I'd get used to it with more time. And, I'm certain there will be updates for assigning what functions they have. Would be nice to have a bit more customization of what they can do.

Yep – need to be very guarded when it comes to these initial “press release reviews.“ The expectation is glowing feedback in return for free travel, lodging, meals, punch and pie. If you fail to deliver then you don’t get invited next time.

Comparison reviews with direct competitors a bit later on will be far more insightful.

Has anyone come across and mention of efficiency during any of the reviews? Just curious if anyone has commented on it yet.
I'd like to know how the R2 gets more miles with the larger 21" wheels than the 20" wheels, the opposite of most if not all EV's ?

Isn't there already a comparison video out? I think I saw one floating around...

It's entirely down to the tires on the respective rims and nothing to do with the rim size. You can go with the 20s, put more efficient tires on there and likely get the same or better range as the 21s
