How fun. Thanks for doing this. Mine says July to September. That’s more optimistic than I am. I’m in NM. No service nearby but early reservation. So we will see. I’m curious how Rivian knows whether I am “flexible” or not. I got an email that asked if I was interested in Launch addition which I am but I don’t recall saying whether or not I would consider other configurations which I will.
Anyway, great addition to the current info. If nothing else it is excellent entertainment.

I think you mean a first world problem. A third world problem would be something like not having clean drinking water.

Obviously the R1 Quad is going to be better than the R2 Performance. It has 4 motors vs. 2, more ground clearance, air suspension, and the RAD tuner. It’s also twice the price. You trolling?

I stand corrected! You're right, first world problem. And i'm not trolling, just still on the fence on the R2. Originally put deposit down thinking it would be better for my son in Chicago given the smaller size and the fun with parking in Chicago, but he bought my 22 R1T and is not interested in the R2. He's 6'7" and getting into the R1T is easier than going lower to get into the R2. Now it's here and i really don't need R1T and R2, and with retirement in 3 weeks and a trip to CO/UT to do some trails (although never done that before), I'm debating on trade in R1T (however Rivian trade in allowance was horrible) and going with R2 in order to camp inside in all weather vs RTT on R1, but hey, that's all part of the adventure right! Think I'm going to default to the lighter interior anyways and that will push me out beyond my fall trip vs getting one in July.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Are you as tall as your son? If so you’ll probably have a hard time lying down in the back of the R2 with the second row down. I can’t wait to do a demo drive, as that’s the first thing I’m testing (I’m 6 feet tall.) The tree house camper looks cool though. Hopefully everything works out for you. Good luck and enjoy your retirement.

I'm 6'3", and i can tell you that I laid down in the one at the Chicago event and I'd have to sleep on a diagonal, or push the front seats all the way up and either sleep with head at rear of R2 and feet hanging over by the front console, or find something to put in between front seat being pushed forward and the top of whatever bed setup i can put in the back. I'm hoping that the test drive will allow time for putting this to the test.

Nice work. Sad if this is true. I reserved March 2026. I am not sure I am willing wait that long with the price of premium gas in Cal crazy $$$ and about to get worse in July.

Oh man now I have a bit of a dilemma if this holds true. I put down 2 reservations (one for me and one for my pops) the minute it went live. But I think we are both wanting to wait for the full spec with lidar for the autonomous driving. Definitely the funnest most privileged problem to have haha. But I wish that option was coming out at launch. Hard to go back after Tesla FSD has gotten so solid. Cool tool. Thanks

Numbers and dates seem to be moving around quite a bit.. when I first tried it, same data points it said ~ July 10, 2026, then over the weekend it showed a range July-sept, can’t recall the dates.

And now today it‘s back to July 7, 2026.. and that’s NO current rivian and NO current lease.. but when I just click on those, it only moves up the dates projected by ONE DAY.. so current rivian and current lease, takes me back to a projection of July 5, 2026.. and of course all the caveats “best Projection” etc.. but it’s no longer a July-Sept range.

I’d love to know what levers are being moved around.

Hey thanks everyone for the kind words! I was working all day and when I came to check the site I realized I'd been flooded by thousands and thousands of fellow Rivian fans. I'll keep making it better — both as a gift to the community and also as a way to stop from going crazy waiting for the R2. :CWL:
I like that you included the methodology page. I had forgotten the number of first day reservations that had been touted. I would bet that the conversion rate, even for the first day reservation holders, is going to be less than 46%. But I like that being the basis for the model anyway. Then your 1 in 4 estimate of those 46% taking the "Launch Performance, flexible" seems very reasonable.

Of those that shared their estimates on the site, 13 of 25 first day reservations said they were taking the Launch Performance, flexible route. Not surprising that the enthusiasts on this forum would be more willing to be flexible, as compared to the general public who have reservations.

I did not see in your methodology what the conversion rate is (reservation to order). I see the launch but not the overall conversion. At the highest end that would be 50%. The F150 Lightning was about 15%. The Cybertruck was less than 5%. There are two ways to think about conversion but for this purpose it is % who convert while supply is still constrained. Some will wait until next year when there is no reservation required. For model purposes those are effectively cancellations.
