Hi Everyone,
Thx for all the input. The compressor problem should definitely be covered under my still active comprehensive warranty. The tech tried to tell me the misaligned wheel well liner is not covered, because my adjsutment warranty is no longer active. However, I believe the misalignment is a direct result of the compressor failure, which dropped the front end down to the bumper stops. Since the compressor failure is covered, any secondary damage incurred as a result of that failure should also be covered.

I've had this battle with other brands before. I agree that added costs precipitated by a failure need to be covered under the warranty. They have disagreed with me.

I'll keep you posted. At this point the truck is in the SC and I I have not yet heard the diagnosis.

Hello everyone,

Mystery solved. It turns out rodents got into the bottom of my truck and bit through the air hose that feeds the front suspension. The repair estimate is currently at $5000! Apparently it requires about 15 hours of labor at the rate of $250/hour, plus parts. This is not covered under any warranty, as it really isn't the fault of Rivian. Fortunately, it is covered under most auto insurance comprehensive policies. The service tech at Rivian told me that almost all the rubber hoses on cars built since 2020 are coated with some kind of soy product that rodents find delicious. Brilliant! Seems like a really bad idea to make rubber engine parts tastey to squirrels and mice. Depending on where you live, if your Rivian will be sitting parked for any extended period of time, you may want to consider getting one of those sonic sound devices to run beneath your car.

I find rubbing snake oil all over my car just as effective.

Rivian should be able to replace just the line that was damaged. If you didn't drive a lot after that, it shouldn't have caused additional damage. But depending on which line, they may need to drop the battery out, which is a pretty extensive process.
