I believe invites already went out for car deliveries for June 9th. In order to finalize color options and financing. It's shocking that no one on here received an invite...

I hope I’m not in limbo. I have a Rivian Service Center and Showroom 15 mins away in Knightdale, NC. But Rivian can’t sell EVs in NC.

So the actual closest Rivian sales center is 3 hours away in Richmond, VA…

Sucks... they should work whatever magic Tesla did to get six NC sales licenses.

Holy crap. I live in SC and always picked up my Tesla(s) in Charlotte. You can't buy a Rivian in SC but also in NC either?!? So I have to go to GA or VA? Wtf

Tesla got 6 sales licenses. That was after a long battle with dealers when they tried to open the third location. The originally had 2 licenses.

My local Rivian Facebook group just told me you can take delivery in South Carolina at the (2) service centers, which are also (not so) ironically supposed to be banned as well, as it's some electronic paperwork loophole for delivery. Even Tesla makes you take delivery in Charlotte across the border in NC (or GA if you lived that way).

Very restrictive anti direct sales and service here in SC.

SC laws allow for service centers operated by manufacturers specifically for the purpose of doing warranty related repairs, which is what Rivian uses to have service centers in state.

The real question is whether they will focus on limiting the number of delivery centers early on to reduce where they are sending trucks.

Richmond isn’t that far of a drive but I was annoyed when the service center told me I would have to go there to pick it up

I know that people like to bash Youtubers, but I can’t wait for Kyle‘s review of the R2. I absolutely love his deep dives into everything related to EV’s. From batteries to range testing to every little nook and cranny that he finds in the vehicles. People even dog on his hour long videos, but I’ll sit there and watch ‘em all.

I also religiously watch Tom from State of Charge and JerryrigEverything. Most of the others are just relegated to background fodder for me, because they all regurgitate the same crap.

Especially after laying out reasonable guidance on closeness to a service center, reservation timing, R1 ownership status. Then they upend that with the potential for a non R1 owner who out in a reservation yesterday getting an early slot.

Areas surrounding Rivian Service + Demo Centers will generally receive invitations sooner as this allows us to deliver vehicles more quickly in the early ramp.

I don't really understand this. Are they actually delivering cars to people's houses? I always assumed that Rivian shipped the car to the 'dealer lot', i.e., a sales center, and the buyer went there to pick it up. In which case, why would Rivian care whether you live just down the block or 500 miles away? (All of this aside from the separate issue of how they would prefer to batch deliveries to any particular sales center.)
