Stupid question I'm sure, but do you have to have the tow package to attach this kind of bike rack? This is really the only possible use case of that package for us, I think.
True genius! (We love our Ioniq5 and look forward to the complementary contrast of an R2. It would be more complementary if the latter was an R3, but the world is so imperfect.)
Double-no, you are misinterpreting the most basic rules of logic. If the glass cracked due to tint and the tint was an XPEL-installed XPEL product, then the glass was cracked by an XPEL-installed XPEL product, which Rivian has stated will not void the warranty.
I am done arguing this...
Two thoughts here.
First, like you we will wait on drive experience before tinting, and do the latter only as necessary. I am researching this pre-purchase only to get a feel for what's possible if it's just too hot to bear.
Second, ok, we tint and the glass cracks. Rivian can't just say no...
Our matte paint Ioniq5 looks totally badass, and the care required for it is totally breakass. We love it but will not go that route again if there's a reasonable alternative. (There was none when we bought the I5 in '22 post-pandemic but pre-crossoverEV glut.
Yeah, and it actually makes me a little nervous. They need to sell a butt-ton of these to stay afloat, and I really do not want to be just another one among the next 25,000 cousins of the Fisker clan.
Please, someone out there show us an invite estimate for 12/27!
I truly admire your certainty on this! Here's mine: Rivian says in writing that they will not deny coverage involving use of an XPEL product. You either think Rivian is lying or you don't.
Yeah, I waded through that entire swamp yesterday prior to calling Rivian, and I agree there are at least three places in the R2 warranty language that give Rivian an out with regard to tinting in general using brandX product installed by nonameinstallerY.
However, a black-and-white statement...
No idea if XPEL applies the film above or below the glass. I'm going to assume that as professionals who have an agreement with Rivian where Rivian is happy enough with whatever XPEL does to the extent that it will not void the Rivian warranty, their methodology will be appropriate, and if not I...
Re: the possibility of tint cracking the sunroof, I just ran this down with Rivian support. Kicking myself for not seeing the following on my own, but at least it took the Rivian guy 25 minutes to find it:
Guess my strategy is tint the roof and hope that if it cracks, it does so before the...
I'm curious to know what's the latest estimated order invitation date. Haven't yet noticed any date later than early '27 (although impossible to keep up with this flood).
With a reservation list of well over 200,000 IIRC, and production of only 20,000 this year, seems like they are thinking the...
I'm actually wickedly curious to know what is the latest estimated order invitation date. (Haven't yet noticed any date later than early '27, although I can't keep up with this flood.)
With a reservation list of well over 200,000 IIRC, and production of only 20,000 this year, seems like they...
Very pleased with my 12/26 to 2/27 estimated window. Probably good alignment with RAP1/LIDAR which I was waiting on in any case. Reservation made 9/25, not an R1 owner.
Uhhh, nearly all of the 800v Korean EGMPs are now under $50K, even up into the top-spec trims. Our RWD mid-spec Ioniq5 was low $50s when purchased in '22, but the late '25 across the board $10k MSRP drops for Ioniq5 have made the car very price-competitive (assuming you can tolerate the ICCU...
Agreed. Nothing in my very brief driving time felt at all wobbly, undirected or otherwise unenjoyable, but the greater ride height did make me feel a little more disconnected from the road in comparison with our lower-riding Ioniq5. Hardly unexpected.
For sure. The attitude that if someone picks any nit whatsoever with the car then there must be something wrong with them is unfortunate, if hardly rare in car forums, and typically says more about the dogmatist than the person offering the criticism. Products are seldom improved by blind worship.
