I answered Definitely to that question, even though I made my reservation in March 2026 and my current lease isn't up until the start of 2028. If the launch edition is still available then, I'll go for it!

I’ve actually considered asking an AI Chatbot every morning “what will be the closing stock price of (pick a company)?” and tracking its guesses for a few months.

But, that would require I interact with a Chatbot, which I have zero interest in doing…

I am very curious as to how Rivian is going to provide every reservation holder with an estimated order timeline before the end of June that has any reasonable accuracy. Seems to me that predicting the actual reservation conversion rate would be pretty challenging without at least a couple months' worth of observation of such. Not to mention the larger distortions that will be caused by people waiting for RAP1/LIDAR or $45K builds.

It will likely work very similar to the original R1 release. We were initially given a 6 month delivery window and that would then shift based on configurations and actual orders. That six months eventually went to a 90-day estimate.

We went from First Half 24 to getting our R1T at the end of 2023. We had to pick it up at the factory to get moved up, but things were very different back then.

I also suspect they will get inventory to the service centers and then have people “pick” from available configurations. Just a hunch.

I made the move to DuckDuckGo from Bing a few months ago, and being able to outright turn off any "AI" crap (and turn on a 'No "AI"' image search filter!) has been worth it for sure!

Interestingly, I'm still using Edge (which I should also move away from), and an ad blocker, and also cannot upload images for the club I'm a part of here... Time to do more investigating.

I'm an R2 reservation holder and received a sales call from Rivian last week to try and get me into an R1. They told me if you reserved after January this year, you're looking at least until 2027 at the earliest. That could be some sales pressure, but probably right.

Lease the R1 till they work the bugs out of the R2
