R2 "Deliveries in Spring" but you can't configure/order until June?

Most likely, they mean you will be able to configure and place an order starting in June. When that order is fulfilled is a whole different question.

I'll keep an open mind, never say never, etc., but if that was Rivian's actual intent behind the messge then that e-mail was the worst written English language sentence of all time.

It literally says "In June, we'll let you know when you can expect to configure and order..." It absolutely does NOT say "In June, you can configure and order..." And although I know nothing about auto production, it certainly makes a certain amount of sense to me for Rivian to invite early reservations to configure early, and later reservations to configure later.

I guess we'll find out in June!

Deliveries start in June so they are going to have to open up the configurator for at least some portion of Launch edition customers that reserved early. They have to organize these orders for production as paint colors are a big item to coordinate in a factory.

No, they don't. Launch edition vehicles will likely be very limited in options so I expect them to be shop only for at least the first few months. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even offer "configured" builds for R2 at all.

Yes, it was my impression that we would all be able to see a tentative delivery date in June. If we are all able to order and put down a deposit, I wonder if those who do it soonest will be able to get their R2 faster, regardless of when they reserved.

Rivian has always played fast and loose with our preconceptions of seasons and time. Spring in Normal lasts at least til June, maybe even into, July, lol.

Yes, but color and wheel spec are the only variables for LE so they will likely batch build based on those variables and then make them available in the shop. Rivian learned their lesson about trying to match orders with buyers when they have a massive backlog of preorders, I don't expect them to make the same mistake.

I can say I did get a survey in March asking if I was getting a Launch edition and what color combos I was looking for. I am pretty sure they are already using those results to build the first batches.

If you have a reservation and are a current Rivian owner, the app asks for you to confirm delivery location and interest in LE.

Not a Rivian owner, but they did ask me to confirm delivery and interest in LE and then sent a survey a few days later after the March 12th reveal clearly asking about color and interior choice.

This wasn’t a survey literally just a “confirm your address is up to date for the R2.”

Got that over a month ago. Not really reliant on whether you have an R1 or not which was the original question nor is it the survey I was speaking of that lasted 10-15 minutes. I believe everyone who has a reservation was asked to confirm their reservation after the MArch 12th reveal.
