Worded like the change is for cold weather only IMO. Still important, but if the battery is properly able to preheat before a charge it shouldn't make much of a difference. Maybe that is the behavior change.

I hate that no one ever specifies what low temperatures means. Could be -40 or around freezing or higher.
I may be misinterpreting the TFL Ike Tow test, but it looks like the charge curve is negatively impacted at both cold and hot ends of the spectrum. Once TFL completed the initial 5k' elevation run from Boulder to Silverthorn, the battery seemed to be throttled back initially due to higher battery temps, eventually bumped up, then fell back as we have seen at higher SOC. Ambient temps ranged from 38F to 27F during the test. Either way, seems like battery temps are a key variable in optimum charging curve.

This is all speculation (with no actual instrumentation) based on one test - hesitant to draw any conclusions there.

If speculation were illegal, this entire board would be in jail.

Observations, however limited, are all we got.

Looking forward to a new charging test. Slow charging has been my biggest complaint about Rivian. Hopefully we see 150kW+ all the way to 70-80%. :please:

I've heard... rumors of at least some builds pulling 150kw+ to around 80%+.

I'm sure the capability is there for the hardware, it'll be up to them to allow it and optimize things take sure it reliably minimizes charging times.

Definitely need some more context on low temperature. It's 40F in Texas and I think that's too low!

Faster charge rates lessens the burden on charging infrastructure. Getting this right kills two birds with one stone.

@Iwantatesla , I understand you may be a long way from a DC fast charger? That would be fantastic if you ended up at one and plotted a charge curve with the new update--you'd bank a few more YT subs I would think!! Thanks again though for your posts. Enjoy seeing the progress for sure.
How about a Go Fund Me (https://www.gofundme.com) campaign so @Iwantatesla can go on a roadtrip to visit DC fast chargers?

Again... So want my R1T ASAP, but also happy with each passing OTA that when mine rolls in it'll be better then it would've if I'd have taken delivery months earlier.

Thanks for posting all your content @Iwantatesla

People can commence argument on how this will actually change the charge curve. Posted by @Iwantatesla

I'll get excited about this when I see an independent reviewer report that the charging curve has actually improved. And note that this appears to apply only to low temperature charging.
