I rarely used the Frunk on my Mach-E, but always use the Frunk on my R1S. Honestly, I think being powered is the difference.

And we're supposed to believe Ford's going to make a $30K electric Pickup Truck? 🤣 🤣

Who cares? Do we complain that Rivian locks the electric tonneau cover behind a paywall? It was standard at one point. You can’t even get a spare tire anymore without paying for it which is far more egregious than charging money for the frunk insert.

agreed. We store some weird things in my wife’s Mach-e and only go in there a few times a year at the most.
I am in my frunk in my R1T at least once a month. Usually more in the summer and less I. The winter. But it is also the size with it being so much larger we use it for bags when we travel.

While this seems like a silly play by Ford, the title of this post is misleading.

In reality, you can pay to have a frunk. Or not have the insert. You are not paying to access something that is already there.
Might be based off my comment on X about using subscription for access to the frunk latch...

This is my fear with the R2. I'd pay extra for power close if it was an option.
I think Rivian knows better than to go that far with subscription or optional services. They are also too small of a brand to get away with it.

He's talking about the power option, not the actual frunk

I'm not paying *anyone* to "access my frunk".
I believe you can still pop the hood. Otherwise, how would you get to the battery and windshield fluid?. This cost just adds the plastic bucket.

Ya when you read the article it seems very different. They are doing what ford always does by making the starting price lower than anyone would actually pay. Like how the F150 starts at $39,330 but no one is paying that. if you don't use the frunk and want to save a little money I guess you can. I guess that's better than a lyriq where you get no Frunk.
