Looking at all original sales data and test data from '22 and' 23 C&D, Motor Trend, Rivian's own sales pitch, R1S quad did 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. 0.1 slower than a R1T.

Now used 22 and 23 R1S quads are shown on Rivian's own used sales web site as 3.0 second 0-60, same as R1T now. Can I tell the difference? Probably not. But bragging rights! 3.0 flat is fast! Very possible a software update increase the power curve. So when did this happen?

I have a draggy and will test once the snow melts.

I'm not surprised if some or all of the independent tests reported different information, but I don't ever remember 3.1 showing up on official marketing. I just remember "3 seconds" without any decimals.

The new quads are "under" 2.6s 0-60 for R1S and 2.5s 0-60 for R1T as shown on the website currently, so there is some reasoning to why the OG quad R1T could on average be a tenth faster than the R1S. Rivian can claim "3 seconds" for both, and that's fair. I'm sure both can hit 3.0 under the right conditions, with roll out. Roll out is certainly the real marketing BS.

The magic of software updates. By 2030 my Gen 1 quad should be in the 2.4s range.

I wonder if the coming launch mode will make it a bit faster

I doubt it. The 400hp available at the rear axle is probably the limit. For even better 0-60, the rear axle is likely underpowered. Something similar happened with Lucid. They increased rear axle power a bit, but 0-60 dropped massively.

All these EVs now doing 0-60 around 3~4 seconds have ruined going quick.

I mean there's nothing special about these times anymore. No need for exotic or supercars. We can push the 7k lbs boxy SUv to 60 in 3 seconds....

To get any thrills, now we have to start talking about 0-120 or 1/4 mile times...
