What R2 features are you most excited about?

I am most excited to buy my first new vehicle in 22 years, and that it will be my first EV. I am even more nervous than I am excited as the nearest Rivian service center is 300 miles away and Rivian does not have a good service or reliability reputation. If I could fine another SUV that was affordable and I liked and had a service center in my city I would buy it most likely. But for now the Rivian R2 is the front runner.

Glovebox. I also like the slide down rear glass. Simple suspension and smaller size are also a plus to me.

I like the slide down rear glass as well. I’ve always wanted a vehicle that can be aired out completely. I like that it’s smaller, too. I’d prefer the R3, but the R2 has really grown on me.

Who wouldn’t like a smaller rugged boxy SUV? I think this is going to appeal to a lot of people.

I love the glove box but I don’t love the double-glovebox. Feels like the designer being petty that everyone hated his glovebox-less design for the R1 lol.

NACS in the right place, better cameras and lidar are my high points. The potential for electronic button switches for the door handles is my big fear. I may not buy it if has door-handle-buttons; stupidest design in the universe imo.

For me its definitely the new steering wheel. While the R1 steering wheel is nice, its not amazing. I think the user interface with the large dials, dynamic clicks and haptic feedback is going to be a game changer for the driving experience.

The second would have been the fold flat front seats but from all indications, that has been scraped.

Third will be the upcoming Gen2 R2 with LiDAR and true eyes/hands-off driving.

I thought initially they were going to be venting the rear side windows, too ?

I wonder how the rear glass being lowered for ventilation will work when its raining ? Will water get in? I generally crack the front window and thinking the rear venting will prevent the buffering inside....

Also - I would LOVE an operable roof - even secondary market

For me most definitely the back window so I can easily have surfboards in there when I don't want to mount them on the roof.

Not having air suspension is actually a downside for me. I feel like they've come a long way with air suspension and reliability of them. and for efficiency, being able to raise when needed but lower on the freway is a huge benefit IMO. I'm bummed it won't even be an option...

My R1 is my first vehicle with an air suspension, and I do love it - but air suspension is still very expensive and complex. Rivian is making sure that R2 is as low-priced as is reasonable, and less complex to build and service. Traditional suspensions are both of those.

Fortunately, All the V4 chargers have longer cords so you can just drive straight in. I heard V3 chargers will be getting the same eventually.

It will be short enough to fit in my garage. My R1T is too long to fit. Yes, I have a sucky short garage. which is all my fault because I foolishly had the house built that way.

The garage is 20' x 20', which seems to be "normal" around here. At the time, both of my vehicles fit in it. 1 was a Nissan Quest minivan, the other a Honda Civic.

Basements are also not a thing for newer houses in the PNW.

There's always the next house to get it right. May I suggest a 40'x40' workshop out back? It's a worthwhile investment.
