To preempt any negative comments…I am a relatively early owner (October 2023)…Quad R1S…I am a huge fan…love the truck and also own stock!!!

3 months ago my home charger stopped working…they said will send me a new one under warranty and have someone come and install it…I was still trying to make it work…unplugged and plugged the connector inside multiple times over 5/6 days and then magically it came online…so I cancelled the replacement. In hindsight I shouldn’t canceled and let them replace it.

Fast forward to this week and the same thing happened again, the charger died…no lights nothing….i have spoken with 5 different people in service who asked me the same questions over and over again…and the last guy who’s supposed to approve the replacement wouldn’t approve saying it’s an electrical fault and not the charger….the charger is offline they can’t see what happened….they are still REVIEWING…not sure what there is to review…it’s a busted charger….just send me a new one….but no.

I even offered to return the new charger if their installer finds the fault with the electrical line…but even that’s not acceptable. so now just waiting and wasting more time. Is it me or after spending more than $100k on a truck that we love they will make such a big deal about a charger for $800….i have 2 R2 reservations…I believe in the company but this is just very annoying and petty I think…just a rant…

Bruh - why didn’t you take the free charger?

Sorry you’re dealing with this. Have you tried your portable charger just to be sure it’s not the vehicle?

Charging at home is so essential, if I were in this situation and couldn’t get an immediate remedy from Rivian, I’d bite the bullet and shell out whatever a Tesla universal charger costs and get it installed. The wiring is all there. It’s just remove and replace. Not worth the headache of thinking about where to charge everyday when it can be taken care with a brand new unit.

I had my Rivian home charger replaced after it kept faulting. I had to do a hard reset on the charger once every couple months or so because it would brick up. Rivian was pretty cool about the process after they looked at the data and saw how many times it faulted. I've had zero issues since then with the new charger.

Rivian even replaced my charger for free after my truck slid down the driveway due to ice. The charging handle was broken so they replaced the entire charger. Above and beyond what they needed to do.

Thinking that you should have not canceled the replacement charger. Not being negative to you.
Who installed the one you have?
$800 for a Rivian charger!???
What a scam, ripoff. You've been had.

Get a Tesla Wall Connector. Mine, like my great Teslas, just keeps on running perfectly, never so much as a flicker; no headaches, just truly set-up-and-forget; plug and start charging full speed every single time; no hassles ever.
And it cost much less than this Rivian scam with certified professional installation after incentives.

Best wishes. Hope you get this resolved.

Not whining…I hate to be the guy who changes things when not needed….have a 2nd charger at a different location and that’s working fine (just jinxed it), even this one worked fine for a year and a half….I think I just got an unhelpful service rep…that’s all….

oh well…it is what it is…I’ll live….

If you are J1772, the Tesla Universal Wall Connector would be your best Tesla option if they won't replace it, but I'm presuming they will eventually come around. It's unfortunate you are being penalized for having tried to give it a 2nd chance.
