For my R1T, I purchased the 21" Michelin almost a year ago exactly and they have almost 11000 miles.
No regrets; super happy with them.
I X-rotated in July with 6400 miles on them. At the rotation, only 2/32"R 3/32"F gone from original 12/32".
The original Pirellis lasted about 37000 miles. I drive mostly in all-terrain standard height. Only conservative mode on long highway trips.

That’s pretty solid. Also, solid work on the OEMs. I’m 22k into my original tires. Not worn all the way but thought it would be a good idea to get new tires before winter.
Thanks for sharing!

This is great information.
As I posted in my thread on 20" options, I've narrowed my decision to the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2, or the Toyo Open Country AT III EV SL (an AS vs a light AT). I have 37,000 miles on my original Perellis.
The only possible downside of the Michelins is that they are not 3PMSF rated, BUT, they get excellent snow handling ratings from Tire Rack. Plus, I have dedicated snow tires for Colorado winters.
I would like to hear from any of you with more than 10k miles on your Defenders, how your efficiency compares to your OEM tires.

I just had Discount Tire install the Michelin's for me. Gone through two sets of Pirelli's, each lasted 30k miles barely. Everything seems to be better with the Michelin's, cheaper, warranty and so far they feel great. Only weird thing was Discount Tire recommended I rotate these every 3,000 miles. That is not going to happen, I do not have the time to stop by every 6 weeks for a tire rotation.

Same boat here other than I've been looking at the Goodyear Territory AT as well (the OEM tire on the newer models). I'm at about 25,000 on the stock Pirellis and have tread left but wanted to change out before the winter. My only concern with the Defenders was the winter handling. I don't use a separate winter tire living in SE WI, the winters are not horrible, but the weight of the R1S makes me cautious.

Basically
- Defenders for better efficiency
- Toyo for better Pirelli replacement and aesthetic
- Goodyear for some blend maybe?

After 55,000 miles just replaced my 20” Michelin LTX M/S with newer M/S2’s. Liked the original a lot! Newer ones don’t seem to handle quite as well, but could be my imagination. Recommend these tires.

You may already know this, but the Toyo Open Country AT III EV SLs are 3 PMSF and severe snow rated. That may be a factor for you if you don't have snow tires.

I am not going to be much help, have only had my Defenders M/S2's installed for about 2 weeks.

But the ride has improved night and day. Quieter.

I have been running a Defender tire on every car I have had for nearly the last 20 years, and plan on continuing that.

I replaced oem at ~14K.. seemed a little rough but I bought my truck with 8K on it and I don't know how the prior owner drove. I had the Michelin-Defender LTX M/S2 put on at the beginning of May. Just had my first rotate done at ~22K. So I have ~8K on them. I have no problems with. I hope they last a lot longer than factory. I bought from Discount tire.

Here is the nitty gritty.

I just purchased a set of the new Hankook Ion HT's for the 21's since Simple Tire has them now. They have a rebate of $100 as a gift card that brings it below $800 for the set of 4. 80k mi rating.
