With voice to text, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
That’s fair. I just couldn’t resist busting @iansriv ‘s chops.. or the chops of his AI voice to text assistant.

We also need an error bypass mode. Like if the parking brake no longer engages the car should still be drivable out of the desert without bricking itself for no reason.

Im not much of a DIY guy. I was in college when I changed the breaks on my car. I only did that so I could impress the girls living next door.
If you find one that knows how to spell "brakes" she's a keeper 😂

I can still put on non-Rivian wipers myself, right?

Access to those items and their diagnostics would be very helpful to many of us that enjoy making our own repairs
I agree with the brakes. But battery and suspension rely heavily on software monitoring and function. So I wouldn’t want to touch them. Also, the suspension in EV‘s is still very new technology and isn’t anything like changing the suspension in an ICE vehicle.

Do you mean just the blades? Of course. You can order them and install them. But if you mean the entire wiper mechanism or motor. Again I would say no as you might need to calibrate due the dependency on software to manage the functionality.

Replacing wiper arm shouldn't require calibration of any sort. Like any other, it's just a mechanical arm, fixed to a spindle with a hex nut. A mechanic, pro or shade-tree, only need to know how to expose the nut, what size socket and what torque to reinstall. This info would be in the subscription-only ($$$$) third-party service portal.

As for replacing wiper blade, I wasn't sure if it was a joke. But, there's no reason to believe that feature will be taken away. None, whatsoever. Discussion is about another DIY-able item being added to the vehicle settings menu: 12V battery replacement, registering a new one and clearing fault codes (after replacing).

There is nothing revolutionary about EV suspensions, the only uncommon thing Rivian uses is the kinetic hydraulic sway bars and many of us already figured out how to DIY service that system. All the rest is all similar to ICE cars. Same with the 12v battery only issue with replacing it is resetting the warning light and finding a battery that fits.
