I have the 115 and have had it for 13K miles now on gen 1 R1S.

The wear is even and no complaints. Its a SUV, not a sports car so different priority on the tires.

I don't know if it will help you, but attached is a PDF that I put together and leave on the seat (I leave the Jack Pucks on the passenger seat) each time I take my R1S in for a tire rotation or to have it inspected. My local tire place is becoming more comfortable with the Rivian after each visit.
Thanks for this. Where did you get the stickers for the jack point covers?

From JackPucks.com - They're great supporters of the site and their products are top-notch. I have the 4-puck set for when I'm at a tire place and a single XL in case I need to do something on the road.

I got a set of Jackpucks shortly after getting my R1S two years ago. Before I let my local MA inspection station put it on a lift I installed the pucks myself. Wish I’d picked up a set of these back then - will get them now. Thanks!

Yeah - It's just another "insurance" policy to keep the tire shop from putting the point on the puck in one of the holes with a T55 bolt. It will come with instructions telling you to sand the plastic a bit to rough it up and then use an alcohol wipe to clean it. Mine have been on for a year or so without an issue, and I run my car through an automatic car wash at least twice a week. Between my document and the labels, it would be really hard for someone to screw up. The manager of my tire place also personally supervises the tech working on the Rivian - I don't know if it's a courtesy to me or if it's a training opportunity for his staff because they don't see a lot of Rivians, but it does make me feel better.

Hi,
Can anyone with the 119 rating speak to ride/wear or impact on efficiency? I just ordered the 119.

thanks

Thanks for the great advice. I didn't know to ask for the 119. I'll give them a call. Will be going to the Tustin Ranch Costco given they have the pucks. Appreciate everyone!
If that doesn't work and they dont have them, go to Discount Tires. They have the rated tires you need.

Yea, I watch my tires very closely and have for years… Even wear and rotations every 5-6k are very important… I do a lot of highway for work but several launches and towed about 300-400 miles with a 6klb boat on those down to 2-3mm tread life…

I should easily see 50k+ out of these…

Thank you. I’m hoping for just 1/2 that!

Hi,

I have a 2024 dual large T. I replaced my OEM 22s after 21,471 miles (they were all at 3-4mm tread depth) almost 2 months ago with a set of LTX Defender 119s at Discount Tire with a price match from Costco. Costco would not allow 115XLs because my yellow door sticker says my truck requires 116HL-rated tires -- yes, I know 115s were installed as OEM on earlier model year Ts, but the sticker is the sticker and lower load-rated tires are not allowed on my particular R1T per Costco policy (would've been the same at Discount Tire also).

My mi/kWh with the Pirellis was 2.70. I have put 4,568 miles on the Defenders, and my mi/kWh has since gone up to 2.73, and sorry, I didn't reset the trip odometer, so it's a blended number, strongly suggesting my mi/kWh with the current tires is actually even higher.

I have them inflated to 62 psi cold (they attain E rating at 80 psi), and I suspect that has made the biggest difference in my improved efficiency, in essence overcoming the additional weight per tire. In the photo below, the even higher psi is because of ambient temps and I was just out driving.

I'm quite satisfied with the tires - haven't had the opportunity to experience them in snow for obvious reasons, but that'll happen.

thank you for the great write up. I'm hoping just to my tracking issues were just bad tires, or at least I get more miles than I did.

I got the defenders placed on about a week ago. Probably 150miles on it. First of all, they look great on the R1S. The ride is smooth and some of the alignment pull to the driver side I had, has decreased significantly. I'm starting to think I had a bad set of OEMs. The one thing I've noticed is that when changing lanes across the freeway, it feels a little like I'm gliding across the lanes? Loving the Defenders though! Supposed to rain tomorrow pretty hard, hoping its good in the rain. Appreciate everyones previous advice.

When I replace my 22's, I will probably go with 115s. The difference in weight of each tire between the 115 and 119 is substantial.

A lot of the first Rivian's came with 115s.
Good luck getting them installed. Discount Tire was a hard no, as was Rivian of course. Had to go-to a local tire shop to get them done.

I have 2 sets of 115 load index tires in 275/60R20 on identical Dodge 2363 rims, AS and AT. While I've never had issues (knock on my noggin), it's always nagging at the back of my mind. Hindsight, I should've gone with an LT set for ATs and will for my next AT tires. As for AS, I'm currently looking at 116s and even LTs as I may get a travel trailer s00n and would just feel safer with them.

I only went with 115s because efficient 116 aftermarket options were nil 2+ years ago, and charging options were slim on our frequent road trip route. Now, there are plenty of options in tires and charging. I'm much less concerned about hypermiling and much more concerned about flats.

However, the cheap bastard in the back of my head keeps telling me to push them to 4/32" and get my money's worth... We'll see who wins.
