Updated January 24, 2024:

It’s installed! So far getting between 1.4-1.8 mi/kwh average. I was average 1.8 prior on my 20 inch in Colorado winter. I think seeing around a 15% drop in range. Not terrible. I drive like a grandma so it's managable. If you drive at higher speeds there'll be a greater range loss.

Planning on putting a Hest mattress in. Also ordering a fairing to help aero flow. Got a mount for my Starlink as well. Will be using this pretty much every weekend for skiing here in CO for next few months.. Say hello if you see me around!

I ordered a thermal pack to be installed next month TBD. Will be using an electric space heater.

Kyle from Out of Spec reached out on doing a video. Hopefully he can dig into some of the nerdier details.

Inspired by @jjswan33 Oru camper build, I am building out my Rivian camper with Tune Outdoor. Delivery is January. I plan to use it all year here in Colorado for skiing, MTB, camping, ect. I like the additonal size on the camper in a small footprint, especially on a small truck like R1T. I got the chance to check the facility and poke around the campers, they are extremely overbuilt and spacious even on a Tacoma.

Technical Walkthrough

Tune Outdoor

Current Specs:
Charcoal Fabric
Tempered Glass - Driver, Passenger, and Rear
King Size Slider - Will not be king size as the camper will be 67" wide. Expecting somewhere around a 67"x80" sleep area. Necessary as I am 6'1 and cannot sleep east-west with 67" width.
Power supply - Figuring out a system using my Jackery 1500. May upgrade to a larger battery pack. Figured I would top off using bed inverter.
Maxxair Fan
No passthrough slider - not possible with the Rivian's size. They would need to find a smaller window. I am fine without this.

It'll mount using the accessory points. They plan on making holes for the buttons. Eventually they want to design a mechanism to access the rail buttons without drilling holes but mine will not have that as the first production model for Rivian. They're very on board with developing a camper for Rivian. They also have plans to make accessories using the T-Track. Also discussed fabricating a fairing to reduce drag.

Will keep this updated as the build progresses.
Congrats! Coming to this thread late- How does the canvas hold up against heavy winds and your one-year experience with the M1? My concern is longevity of the canvas.

Our R1T Gen 2 will get its Tune M1 installed Sep 5 In Denver. We had a deposit on the Hiatus pop up, but our Hiatus configured price was > $40k. Our Tune M1 configuration is about $22k. We also ordered glass on all there sides. Tune offers a slider front window now.

Do you have the front roof cargo bar installed to which you attach your fairing?

The fairing (from CO Fairing Company) attaches directly to the T Slot on the Tune Camper.

I think I have the first "standard production" Tune M1 - have had it for a few months.

They've done a nice job with the gear tunnel and tailgate controls.

Finally got it out - my very preliminary interior layout, along with Rio, who was ready to relax.

What's the cost of the fairing? How does Colorado fairing design custom deflector for the Rivian? Did they require in person visit? Thanks!

It was around $500. They have some fun wraps you can see on their website - I went plain. I visited in person for both the fitting and the install, but it was fairly easy since I only live about 3 hours away. Install was very quick - I think it would be a pretty simple DIY. Now that Tune has standardized their Rivian cap, I don't think you would need an in person visit, but I would reach out and ask.

Beautiful! What's the average range hit in percentage? Bbok1208 mentioned about 15% when he had no fairing installed.
I've only had the fairing on for a week, and of course efficiency depends a lot on speed, temperature, grade, etc. I did a major road trip with a lot of interstate driving over the long weekend. Holding speed at 75mph wherever possible over the ~500 miles, I averaged 1.53 mi/kW on the way out and 1.42 on the way back (~5000 ft elevation loss/gain, temps in the 90-100F range). I made a similar run over the same stretch prior to getting the cap installed with efficiency of 1.80 outbound and 1.65 on the return trip (at slightly higher speeds and temps of 40-70), For both a 60 mile trip that was a mix of 55mph two lane and national forest/BLM roads with a little off-road mode crawling, I averaged 2.05. I'm seeing similar efficiency (2.05) for "local" mountain driving (mostly 50-65 mph 2 lane with small town slower roads). Prior to installing the fairing, I was getting around 1.85 for local driving. Prior to installing the topper, I was averaging around 2.2 mi/kW in local driving. So preliminary results suggest that with the fairing, maybe 10% range loss in local driving up to 15% or so at interstate speeds.

Looks amazing! Congratulations!

These later units seem more integrated with the R1T.
