I highly recommend the Sierra EV. I had ‘21 R1T, which I loved, but moved back into a full-size ICE truck after about a year. I just bought a 2025 Sierra EV Denali and couldn’t be happier. The range, build quality/fit and finish, and comfort are outstanding. Super Cruise and the midgate are also great and useful features. The audio system and tech are not as good as my R1T, but overall it is a great full-size EV. I was considering going back to a dual motor R1T, but decided to go with a full-size truck.

Hey!
I’ve lurked here for many years, but my time with Rivian is coming to an a sad but optimistic end.

After 11 different trips to the service center and over 4 months of SC stays, Rivian is buying back my R1T. I can’t trust it anymore. I still love the thing but I won’t be holding the bag when the warranty is up.

looking for an SUV- anyone like me who has made the jump, or if you HAD to jump….In which vehicle would you land? Don’t say Tesla.
I’m so sorry your experience has been so bad. I’ve had my R1S for almost two years with virtually zero issues. It’s the most fun vehicle I’ve ever owned and stirs up conversation with total strangers on most trips to the grocery store or every other outing.
We waited for 2 1/2 years to get it and it was really worth the wait. Some vehicles are just lemons and unfortunately for you, you got one. Good luck in your next purchase.

Rivian has been known to give it to prospective buyers on request, and if they won't the seller/dealer, etc.. can request it for you.
Thanks very much

The Rivian is an awesome vehicle and I hear you on the service issues. I have been screaming from the roof tops about Rivian service and parts supply issues for a while (its a top down issue IMO).

There is nothing else like Rivian that can do so many different things. Wanted to take the R1S to Corolla but it wasn't to be.

Truck wise, its either the Rivian or I do own the Silverado EV (Moby Dick) but that is a full size truck. Materials not quite as upscale as Rivian (Sierra EV is a bit closer to Rivian) but it has killer range on the max battery....one of the main reasons I got it was for towing. It also has a monstrous back seat.

I forgot the iX. Those are nice, but they aren't SUVs. If you don't need the extra space of the R1S or the towing, then the iX would be my choice.
If I'm not recommending Rivian, then I would also vote for the iX. It generally is at the top of reviews for electric SUVs. Not really capable in terms of anything off-road like Rivian but as a people mover, it will serve you well.

I lemoned mine as well and switched back to a gas vehicle. Currently no viable EVs on the market for my situation unfortunately so I got a GLS 450 which is nice as hell.

Feels so relieving to be driving a non piece of garbage vehicle again after suffering for the past year.

If I ever bailed on the Rivian, I’d go back into a Raptor. That truck was awesome. Would suck to pay the gas costs, but there’s nothing really else if you like to hit trails

My annual drive costs for my R1T without solar, time of day billing, or any other offset, worked out to about $1,600 for 10k miles. My BRaptor is about $2,500 with maintanence. That comes out in the wash for me. The part that doesn’t is actually having to get gas. Thats a lotta time pumping for a DD and gets a bit annoying once you never have to do it.

Totally agree. But the EV options in the capable off road space for EVs suck. Wouldn’t want to go back to ICE, but there’s nothing options would force me too.

Totally agree. As much as folks say the R1’s are amazing off road, it’s got nothing on this BRaptor. Of course, on road, yeah, that’s a different story. If you don’t have to go off road, or tow a lot, and live on top of an SC, Rivian’s can be amazing… tradeoffs though. Tradeoffs.

One other challenge for me, where I live, insuring an R1 is a LOT more than the BRaptor of the i5N. I think the insurance CO’s got wise to the expense of repairs and the risk of a total.

All State charges me $520 for 6 months on the R1T.

Not only am I done with Rivian, I'm done with electric for at least 5 years...
Reasons why- I can't take my R1T on fishing trips through Wyoming & Montana, and Utah. I know Biden promised we'd have a couple hundred thousand charging stations built by now, but that was a lie. I'm tired of calling service to fix issues when the approx wait time to get in these days is around 2+ months! That's not the kind of customer service that is required for a fairly expensive vehicle. My warranty is coming to an end soon and I'm not looking forward to the costs. The resale value on these things suck! While I love the power and overall handling, I will get over it. I've ordered a Lexus 550 GX Overtrail+.
