Hey!
I’ve lurked here for many years, but my time with Rivian is coming to an a sad but optimistic end.

After 11 different trips to the service center and over 4 months of SC stays, Rivian is buying back my R1T. I can’t trust it anymore. I still love the thing but I won’t be holding the bag when the warranty is up.

looking for an SUV- anyone like me who has made the jump, or if you HAD to jump….In which vehicle would you land? Don’t say Tesla.

There isn't anything else out there. That's the problem. There's the EV9, but the interior is cheap and doesn't have the same performance. There's the G wagen, but it will cost you another 60K over a top trimax. The Cadillac Escalade EV is supposed to be luxurious but doesn't perform similarly. The Gravity looks like a minivan but if you can get past that, and if Lucid starts making them, it's probably the only thing close.

After a Tesla and 2 experiences with Rivian R1Ts, my all-time favorite vehicle I've ever owner was my 4Runner.

I really do miss those days of worry-free vehicle ownership.

They ain't what the used to be. My wifes 2019 rav4 hybrid in 90,000 miles has had to be towed to the dealership 4 times in 5 years. All warranty work

I forgot the iX. Those are nice, but they aren't SUVs. If you don't need the extra space of the R1S or the towing, then the iX would be my choice.

I kept our ice vehicle (Bronco Raptor - never been back to the dealer) and picked up an Ioniq 5 (limited). Later traded the I5 for an I5N (also not been back to the dealer, though only 2,500 miles into this one). If I don’t need to tow or want the tossable sports car-truck, topless fun of the Raptor, I drive the I5N everywhere. My quad R1T felt almost as fast, but wasn’t as fun to drive, and was just too noisy over high frequency rough roads and significantly more expensive to run with the battery drain I was experiencing. I only had a few trips to the SC in under 2k miles, but each was long and often didn’t fix things. I’ll probably come back eventually when I’m ready for my next depreciation bath, but it’ll be a while…

I am intrigued by the Lucid Gravity… but my wallet tells me to stay away.

I’m also open to going back to ICE. Just not sure where to land since I’d planned on being in this truck for a very long time.

I came from a 2014 4-Runner. It’s crossed my mind to simply go back but there’s no way I’ll be happy with that 4.0 V6 that felt slow BEFORE I owned an R1T…

I’m looking at a GX, but not loving what I’ve read so far from new owners since their update.

The nothing else out there is doubly true for ICE IMO. Nothing in an ICE platform is going to give me close to the same benefits as an EV does. Obviously I'm biased, but being able to "fill up" my vehicle at home and one pedal driving are deal breakers for me. FWIW I've been driving a Rivian since '22 and have had two of them. Neither one has had any major reliability issues.

My R1T is a ‘22. The fact that they’re buying it back surprised me but also tells me what the truck has put me through isn’t typical… but I can’t/wont get bitten twice

You could always consider picking up a low mileage used R1T. You would be able to see it's service history beforehand so you would know if it's a "trouble" vehicle. I sold my 2023 R1T last Oct, it had 4K miles on it and had never been back to Rivian even once for any issues. The prospective buyer was able to see the service records and scooped it up at a good savings over new and it still has plenty of warranty left on every component.

I agree!! We just went to the car show in Chicago to look at everything available. There really is not anything like the Rivian. Both performance wise and nice interior and off road capable. I think the Lucid Gravity is the closest but definitely is not something I would take off road. Really quite different from the R1S. I have had my R1T for two and a half years and 60,000 miles and had only a couple minor issues one being the 12 volt battery replaced which is not uncommon the other a window needed adjusting for wind noise. I think forums typically skew peoples thinking because of the number of issues posted. If it is working good no one posts about it.
