The best thing you can do at this point is open a ticket and get in the queue to get it fixed. You can add additional things to the ticket up until about a week before your appointment. Start with the tires being shaky and the car pulling like it's out of alignment.

Typically when there are multiple things service will call you in a day or two to confirm. When they call, ask them if there's another time you can get in earlier as you have a concern about waiting three months while putting 3,000-4000 miles on these tires when the alignment is off and hot much that will wear out the tires. Typically Rivian can get you in earlier. Just be prepared for your truck to be in service for a couple of weeks to be addressed.

Loud blower motor, air compressor on all the time, alignment off, steering shakes (not lane departure related), paint flaw / body damage, trim not flush, door panel rattling, wind noise from roof, and can’t get service for 3 months.

for the price of ownership, I’m not impressed.
That sucks. Mine has been pretty flawless. I did have some wind noise but they adjusted the door and it’s gone. These smaller companies may have a few more issues out the gate vs a Lexus or Mercedes but they’re all easily fixable. The wait is a pain though.

I will say, the shaking steering wheel plagued me as well. I had the wheels road forced 3x and went as far as replacing the tires with Michelins. Nothing really solved it…until i just moved to Dallas (NOT by choice) and it’s smooth as glass on most roads now. The R1 has a lot of steering feedback and a lot of the highways in SoCal are terrible unfortunately.

Mine is quiet compared to my previous Tesla, but I don’t have the heat pump. Wind noise is nearly imperceptible now and tire noise is low (switched to the Michelins). I have no rattles; honestly the most rattle free vehicle I’ve owned.

I just had an Audi Q5 S Line rental car and when I got back in my truck I couldn’t believe how much more solid it felt.

Call them and see if they can get a mobile tech to you asap to at least fix some of the things. My experience with Rivian service, even in Orange County, has been pretty good. They’ve been very accommodating for me, but I know others have different experiences.

Hope it gets better for you.

A lot of these negative comments are so childish btw. When I first joined here, everyone was relaxed and welcoming. It seems like that’s faded a bit and the typical lame forum vibe has set in. People can sign up to vent online. Don’t read it if you don’t want to.

Most vehicle heat pumps I have experience with are loud. Our Blazer EV has a loud heat pump as well.
They need to learn from Tesla. All of mine with heatpumps (4 of them) have been moderately quiet at startup and then get pretty quiet. The exception to this is when I it is a 100+ degree day and they are at max capacity, still aren't that loud. They were much quieter than the Gen2 I drove on an 80 degree day both inside and outside. My Gen1 is quieter than my Teslas.

As for service wait times, in Dallas they are long too. It took me 9 weeks to get mine in last year.

Perfectly understandable how you feel. Yes, it may take a while for Rivian to address your issues, but Rivian tends to do quite right by its customers. Such is my experience.
Hope it all works out well for you.

My wife's model YP had a paint flaw. We refused delivery and by the time the new one came the price dropped. We have a beautiful Lexus SC430 that she loved. Now it just sits there. Why would anyone want a 3 motor R1S that does not have a motor on each wheel over a quad? Keeping my quad. I think she wants my quad... no chance. My Vette had silver wheels. I should have ordered the dark ones, so I sold it. I did the Spring Mountain race course. I like my 22 brights. :) My last car. Why would anyone want something else.

Sorry to hear about the issues. Im sure they will get them addressed.

However you have to be impressed with an SUV that goes to 60 in under 3, has 14 inches of ground clearance, seats 7, has a frunk, at home is about $18 to "fill up" in most states, continually gets better through updates. But yes, some of the alignment and wheel balances issues up front can be a pain for customers.

Welcome to a new car company. I was hoping the 2nd gen would be better but I noticed the loud heat pump on them before I went with a used Gen 1 instead.

As for body damage and trim issues, were they at delivery? If so, you should have had them correct before taking delivery.

Wind noise is a pretty common issue. Lots of threads here on how to address it depending on the issue. What speed does it start at? This is also an issue on my Tesla model 3.

TIres might have thrown a weight and need balancing. Can't speak to alignment unless something was hit. I haven't heard this being an issue.

Let service check out the stuff and in my experience they are pretty good at fixing the issues.

Many of Gen2 including mine are horrifically misaligned. I have had mine in 2x for them to fix the issue. Holding your steering wheel 3/4" off set to the left to drive straight is crazy. Last fix attempt they remedied it to about 90% improvement. I think something is off in their process or they stopped doing alignments.

The Gen1 RIT loaner I had was built amazingly well. My R1S Gen2 has been a dumpster fire. Nothing that can't be remedied by a few visits, but that process could take a year with how they schedule.

Wind noise as you mentioned is usually just a window reset away.

So many of these posts lately. Shit on Rivian and never come back. Never provide anything beyond a sensationalized complaint, not from a user who has engaged much, if at all, before.

You are not allowed to drive it before delivery. The delivery rep can drive it with you as a passenger.
So OP could have gotten a ride, couldve walked around the vehicle and seen the cosmetic issues before signing the paperwork youre saying?

Rivian didn't make me finalize my paperwork on my purchase last week until after I had a chance to inspect and ask about everything. Guaranteed the OP got that chance too, they just weren't prepared or were overly excited about it.

I've looked for their post from two weeks ago, asking what to look out for at delivery. I can't find it.

People come on here constantly making bullshit complaints and blowing things out of proportion. If the OP would have actually explained themselves and showed pictures or evidence of these issues that would be one thing. They didn’t and given the vast majority being overblown that’s the default unless proven otherwise.
Totally agree. But this post was made while someone was clearly frustrated. People can have some empathy and encourage the guy to further explain/post pics, or just ignore it rather than acting like an old boys club. Always tends to be the same type of people that live on forums and police them. It’s lame imo.
