Well, assuming my November delivery holds up, I'm really hoping you're right haha. Would be a shame to get my truck on-time but in less-than-ideal shape

I got the sense that no external customer will get a truck that does not meet their QC standards. The few external deliveries that are going out before DEC are either ‘beta testers’ getting something in return - or will receive a truck that does meet all QC tests. Again, I was reading between the lines of the conversation a bit - the RG never used the term beta tester.

I would be willing to be a "Beta Tester" ! I live near Normal and ordered an R1T LE in Nov 2018. I have a 14-50 outlet already installed and space to add a 60A breaker for the Rivian wall charger. I work from home, so I don't need to drive everyday. If there were any quality issues, I would be fine if they bring me a loaner while they work on the truck. I've already had my test drive at the First Mile Event and my configuration is set. I'm ready now !

I’d rather have Rivian take their time and work out any quality issues before delivering cars to real customers, versus the beta units that are being delivered to employees. They don’t want to go the route of Tesla and ship beta units and let users work out the kinks. In fact, Tesla is still shipping beta units without finished/complete features in my opinion

Work out the kinks, sure.... I suppose the decade of development just hasn't been quite enough..
Development is very different from being able to reliably produce quality product in significant numbers.

Kialoa can you please ask your guide if they are still contacting reservation holders? Or have they just stopped for the time being. I think a lot of us would like to know if that process is even ongoing. Or are we to just expect a delay email at end of November.

Thanks

I’m in MA but work just outside NYC ~1 day/week. I gave them 2 delivery options, NYC or BOS.
I’m in CT, also am wondering if I’ll be a Boston or NYC person.

Does anyone know the prices on the build page is fixed for us or they can change before delivery? I am wondering if passing of Build Back Better bill could have an impact on what we actually pay. And if so, that could have contributed to delay.

Configuration details available? ?

There is a disclaimer on the page that the price could change. If this is what you are talking about:

Rivian R1T R1S New Delivery Delay Confirmed - My R1T Delivery Pushed From October to end of February, 2022. 2D8EF182-AE2A-436B-9F3D-0B533425C2F0

I would have trouble seeing them increase the price much with the BBB msrp cap that's currently proposed.

Could you imagine the reaction on here if they do increase pricing for current preorder holders beyond what has been indicated in the portal?

Holy shit, it would be bedlam. End of days stuff. :like:

AND it pushed it above the MSRP limit for the potential tax credit?!

Any one know how the Tesla increases worked? That is, if you dropped your cash on a reservation, and the price shifted, did people get the original price, or the ne price when they went to pick up the car?

I'm genuinely curious (since Tesla has had multiple price increase this year).

They should have just delayed to next year when they delayed earlier this year if qc is still a concern now.
