What do people find are the best uses for the keyfob? Are there a lot of cases where you won't have your phone and won't carry the keycard? Is it easier for valets?

I've GOT to stop obsessively checking my phone to see if the update has been pushed to me yet - only way I'll actually be able to get some work done! This is one of the more exciting updates in awhile. I've always enjoyed listening to SiriusXM in my cars, so I'm looking forward to getting that back. I'll also say that, re Gen 2, I'm looking forward to the, "Faster DC fast charging for vehicles with Large and Max battery packs." My first road trip in my Gen 2 was over Thanksgiving week, and charging was much slower than I thought it should be at two RANs, one EVGo and one Tesla.

RANDOM QUESTION: I don't have Connect + -- will probably get it for a month during Xmas holiday travel. However, I noticed on update 2024.43.01, I now have hotspot again (but no alexa voice command or enhanced maps) - did anyone else notice that the hotspot alone came back for 43.01? Thanks in advance.

I believe hotspot came back for non connect plus users as a trial for the video apps.

In the short term I am 50-50 about whether to get connect plus now. I was simply connecting to my phone's hotspot each time I wanted it, but I somehow removed hotspot from my phone plan and have not figured out how to add it back yet.

In the winter I do longer trips due to skiing commute so probably will do a month or two. Interestingly, ATT (what Rivian uses) seems better in the Catskills than Verizon (what I have).

Very curious to know if XM allows login via existing subscriptions like the iPhone app does (unlikely) or requires a stand-alone account as if it were it's own receiver separate from any existing subscriptions (much more likely, based on Tesla implementation).

Based on the Rivian tracker video, I think the app login is all you need.

One thing to keep in mind as well for the truck connectivity. The range of the receiver/antenna in the Rivian is better than on a phone. When I was in Yellowstone my R1S was getting service in areas my phone was not. Might be a decision point for people in sketchy reception areas.

I watched that & was thinking it was just for listener profile (preferences), but watching again I hope you're correct. Definitely would like ability to use with existing sub (tied to our dinosaur vehicle with a physical receiver), but no way SXM is worth the cost of entry if you have to pay separately to use on the Rivian.
