I just want to know if this is legal in San Antonio, Texas. Now, granted, I work for an oil refiner. I know, I know...the irony. But they fear EV fires in the parking garages and want us to park in 10 spots on the roof of the furthest parking garage. Also of note, they are ok with plug in hybrids parking on any floor of the garage... Wtf?? Why can't we just park on the roof of the 2 closer garages? Sorry, ranting...

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
FWIW I used to do a bunch of work with the Detroit OEMs and had to park my Hertz not-a-Ford (or GM or Chrysler) in a separate lot, out of sight. Employees were forced to do the same.

The "we're afraid of a fire" sounds like a convoluted justification to do the same to your non-dino-juice vehicle.

Yeah, lately the anti-EV articles and such on our intranet site has been a bit much. Guess the fear of the EV takeover is real.

I do love the self own of putting the heaviest vehicles on the very top of the parking garage; they probably don't even know your GVWR exceeds the max weight rating of the garage by at least 1,000 lbs. They're gonna wonder why their garage renovation project has to get moved forward 5 years when it's far too late.

Yeah, EV's and those that drive them are not a protected class, so yeah they can do what they want. Start an EV breakfast Burrito club and they'll let you park up front.

Just tell them that your truck is natural gas powered, because it probably is!
One of my favorite physics lessons to teach is tracing the energy dissipated in a car crash back to its source. In almost all scenarios, it works out that our vehicles, whether EV or ICE, are powered by nuclear fusion.

You should petition them to put up some level 2 chargers there so you can charge while at work. Just say being plugged in will help keep the HVAC on so the car stays cool and prevent fires.

You should probably take your expertise to a different industry.
