Hey everyone, I'm struggling to find a good place to mount my Pixel Fold in my car. I want to use it unfolded for Waze and my radar detector app, but I don't want to block any of the car's built-in screens or use a windshield mount.

I thought about mounting it on the dashboard above the main display, but the material seems too delicate to hold a suction cup for long periods. Any ideas for alternative mounting locations or methods?

Any double-sided reusable tape (think of the glue on a post-it note)? maybe... that allows you to stick your phone and remove it easily and then replace the tape every few weeks...

There are tape surfaces that you won't need to replace, but I'm not sure how that would impact the dashboard long-term (glue residue, de-coloration, etc).

Check out Proclip. They have a dedicated mount for Rivians and a bunch of clip solutions for Folding phones.

Unfortunately ProClip doesn't have a mount that allows the phone to be placed open. I called and they suggested purchasing one of their tablet holders that holds via tension but the cost of just the phone mount is $120 plus the $40 for the R1 mount.

It works great for my iPhone. It places the screen near the field of vision, perfect for Waze. I moved the ProClip mount from a prior vehicle and only ordered the Rivian-specific adapter.

Yeah, I do find their prices too expensive. But they tend to have Black Friday sales.

I have a Samsung Fold and used one of their tablet holders, because they don't have a holder for the unfolded fold either, and it worked pretty well.

But the overall setup was a bit too clunky for my taste so I got rid of it.

Yeah, they make the mount is such a way you can adjust the height of the holder, which helps a lot. Wish more affordable options would show up.

I used one of these to mount my Galaxy Z fold to my motorcycle:

Metal iPad Holder for Tripod...

I screwed a RamMount ball in the back so I could use any RamMount-compatible mounting system. It's pretty adjustable so it'll fit a wide-range of sizes.

I used Proclip in my Sierra, then glued/screwed a RAM ball to it and used an X-Grip phone holder.

So, maybe This ProClip for Rivian
with This Ram Mount X-Grip
with This Ram Arm
with This Ram Ball Mount

One of the best phone mounts I've ever used had this setup. Now, with an unfolded Pixel, it might block a bit of the screen based on where the ProClip is located, or be hard to reach on the far side o the screen.

Maybe @SwampNut could 3D print a lower vent clip that has a flat front surface for a ball mount for this?!?!

Interestingly enough, I haven't felt compelled to mount my phone in my Rivian.
