Yes, it's a NACS >> CCS adapter so that will work. Just make sure the station where you want to charge supports adapters by checking in the app.

Should work fine as long as you double check the super charger stations are open to rivian use. Also I prefer the @A2ZEV one plus it’s on sale right now. @MidnightRivian preach! ?

Did you do a search??
  • It will work and GM is reportedly selling it to their customers.
  • Tesla's policy on third party adapters remains the same: use only their adapter.
  • Rivian's policy on third party adapters remains the same: use only the one by Tesla (the one Rivian is distributing to their customers AND is now available for purchase through Gear Shop.
  • Some owners of this Lectron adapter had trouble getting theirs to release the Supercharger plug, which caused them to abandon their adapters at the Supercharger. Cost of adapter lost. And bad etiquette, because that charger is then not unusable to a Tesla owner.
BTW, did you do a search??
  • If you decide against official policy from Tesla and Rivian, A2Z's Typhoon Pro is better
  • Because: A2Z is far more responsive to customer inquiries than Lectron and no one has had issues with it releasing the plug.

Road trip in two days from Santa Barbara, CA to Palm Springs. I need a safe, reliable way to charge. My Rivian adapter has not arrived yet. I just purchased this one by Lectron off of Amazon:

Anyone have any ideas whether this Lectron adapter will work fine at a Tesla supercharging station?
I have a Lectron CCS/NACS adapter. It WILL work at 250kw Superchargers. It WILL NOT work at 150kw chargers. When I got mine it was difficult to get it to release from a NACS cable. (I practiced on my Level 2 Tesla Wall Connector). After a bunch of tries, it got easier. It also helps to leave the Lectron attached to the CCS port, press the release button on the NACS cable, press the release button on the bottom of the Lectron adapter, AND PULL UP on the NACS cable. The more you can practice on a NACS cable, the easier it will get to release. Mine releases pretty easily after pressing the release buttons (it’s locked tight when connected - as it’s supposed to be). I have no problem connecting to 250kw Superchargers; completed a Pensacola-to-Detroit trip and back in September. Superchargers worked great.

Much prefer A2Z over Lectron.

I bought the Lectron many months ago. I don't know if they did a design update, but early ones could get stuck to the cable. The fix was easy: slightly grind down the latch feature that grabs the Tesla handle. It was just a little to tall to disengage from the Tesla handle. I very carefully used a Dremel as you absolutely do not want to accidentally grind the pin. Works like a champ now. Holds tight latched and releases easily. Lectron may have fixed this issue on current product, but it'd be worth testing first before using our in the field.

Been using the Lectron adapter with only one issue: it’s reluctant to disengage from SC charger cable when your session is done. I’d not considered the Dremel fix mentioned in this thread. Rather, I followed suggestion in a previous thread which works every time. Remove the SC cable from the adapter while the adapter is still plugged into your charge port. That way your Rivian holds onto the adapter for you rather than your having to use both hands to try to separate cable and adapter from one another ‘by yourself.’

Ya.. and IMO it’s the best of the main 3… those being the Lectron, A2Z, and Tesla/Rivian official…

Same here. It's the first time I hear about difficulty in disengaging. I actually went to my garage and tried it on my wife's Tesla Wall Charger, it's smooth in-and-out.

Really good tip. I have a Dremmel so this fix is possible. And yes, I'll be testing it out before the roadtrip.

Thanks!

Google “abandoned Lecteon adapter”. It’s not a made up tale.

Also look for posts in this forum about attempts to contact Lectron to receive after sales support.
