2023 R1S OC LA Silver 21 as of 23xxx Nov 3, 2023 !!
350 miles stated, essentially R1 size battery assumed.. Somehow fit a gas generator to give another 500 on Harvester. Sounds very fairy tail.
Will be interested to see, but my guess is that if you take Hybrid option the battery will have to be smaller so less range as an EV.

I dunno, Scout seems to be very purposeful and niche. R2 is going to be Rivian's Model Y (much more mainstream, accessible, and road-focused).

I suspect the Scout will appeal more to the Land Cruiser and Range Rover crowd, so maybe more of an R1S competitor in that sense, but for those even more into overland.

This thing is longer than the R1S and no third row?
Yeah, I thought it was closer in size to the R2. I didn't realize it's actually bigger than the R1S. I guess it's going to be a big threat to the R1S, not so much the R2.

The Scout seems to somehow hide it's size when you don't see it next to other vehicles.

So I looked up the specs and the SUV is exactly the same spec as the R1S also the Truck is 10" longer than an R1T. These are starting at $9k+ less than a Rivian with more features. Rivian should be concerned, very concerned. I put a deposit in for a Range extender Truck. I suspect top spec truck will be $80-90K.

$60k base truck 225miles of range
$5k for range extender
$10K for 100miles more battery
$2k paint
$8K offroad package

This thing is enormous. If no third row the cargo space will be bonkers. I reserved one without first double checking if it could seat my family of 6. I originally reserved a cybertruck because it too was going to have bench seating in the front but pipe dreams. I dodged a bullet there I guess.

It's just great that we are starting to see more electric SUVs with serious capabilities and somewhat square styling. I hope Jeep joins the party soon too. Their upcoming Renegade EV is just too small for me, but might be a good start.

Thanks!

I guess with the ICE, there goes the frunk cause this ain't no BMW i3 REX where you can shoehorn a 34hp European scooter engine under the rear cargo deck for a generator!
He said you still get a frunk with Harvester.

Really? $15k more than the R2, slower than R1 with less impressive specs (wading depth, ground clearance, speed, towing etc). Rivian has nothing to worry about.
Scout esthetics seem much more appealing than my R1S. Reserved one!

unabashedly just copied Rivian. mish-mash of the R1 and R2. even down to the AT wheels. sheesh

but it looks like a solid design. dimensions closer to CT than the R1T. even has grab handles, sliding rear window on the truck, full size spare on the SUV and what looks like a roof that opens, which makes me think they've added things Rivian missed.

if they can hit that price, this could be trouble for Rivian. so why did Rivian partner with Volkswagen?

website says "Scout Motors retail stores will debut in 16 metro areas". does anyone know what those are?

hate the lights though. looks like the Porsche Taycan, which i hate as well.

Less capable in other areas like towing, ground clearance, wading depth and speed. This will be a niche vehicle - remember only 30-40k R1S are sold a year and Rivian has way more awareness and mainstream appeal.
