Looks like they are built on the same concept and shared desings as the Rivians but are more capable and additional usable features?

Ranger extender? I'm guessing this might come into Rivian's in the future with support from VW?
The bench seat up front, makes the truck also a 6 seater, which is a big win.
Buttons are amazing, no laggy UIs when driving.
Sun roof that opens up!!

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Solid rear axle. Front and rear mechanical lockers. 5.5' bed on the Terra. Definitely not the same platform.

Production won't start until 2027. I imagine we'll have another refresh, of the R1 by then.

Better off road? Maybe. On-road (where most people drive)? No chance.

Can we stop comparing cars that aren’t going to be produced for a few years to cars that are currently produced? Do you also compare your current spouse to the one you might want in 3-5 years?

Well, it has a metal roof option, or a sliding roof option, already a +1 for me.

The interior has R1 and R2 ques.

Core branding for VW indicate it will have AA/CP, another +1 for me.

Have to see what the pricing is.

They have their estimates on the site around $60k. Will see if they can stick to it. VW's ID.Buzz pricing makes no sense. Unsure how they'll be able to stick to the estimates.

IMHO this is so much better than my R1S.

Gas range extender. This will allow Scout to really penetrate the market since people can bring additional gas to extend range by hundreds of miles, essentially eliminating range anxiety. Road trips can be done entirely on gas, if preferred.

The UI seems magnitudes better. Buttons and knobs galore for safe driving that doesn't require one to constantly take their eyes off the road.

Manual, not motorized vents that can be adjusted without diving into a touchscreen. One of mine already broke and is stuck in one position. Simplifying this just makes sense from a warranty liability standpoint and driver comfort standpoint.

They have a bench seat option and an actual glove box. Bench seats aren't for everyone but I would love to have one.

A massive roof that allows open air driving. Personally, living in a year round hot climate, anything is better than an all glass roof. Hoping they have a hard top solid metal option as I would elect for this if available

A frunk that is much easier to load. That also comes with power outlets.

Refrigerated box is a nice plus but if you go with the bench feature (which I would do) you would not have one.

800V architecture. I tried zooming in to see how much power the onboard outlets provide but it looks like it's more than 1,500 watts (which is anemic).

Conventional door handles. I understand the rationale behind self presenting door handles in aerodynamic ultra-low cd vehicles but they are entirely pointless on a boxy SUV and just leads to more warranty claims and headaches for customers.

While subjective, I personally find it to be a more attractive vehicle overall. But I prefer a more rugged appearance.

I placed my reservation but it looks like a solid 3-4 years til anyone will get one in their hands.

The more I look at the pics, the more I see this is a badge engineered Rivian. I cant see how they can sell them for 60k considering what the cheap G2 R1's are selling for now. Wonder if they are going to pull another ala-Rivian PriceGate.
