Hello,
I have a crack all the sudden in the glass roof panel due to temperature difference (no other impact).
I reported this problem 5 weeks ago, called 14 times the service department and every time the are telling me that they call me back to see if the mobile service can come out. The next appointment I got in Trenton to asses if this is a warranty issue is end of December. The recommendation was to claim this to my assurance to avoid the 2 hour drive to Trenton (I have a $500 deductible and besides this would be insurance fraud). I also have an issue with the Rivian charger and reported this problem also 5 weeks ago - o reaction. I submitted all required pictures and didn’t hear anything. Any advice what I can do?

If you have been trying for that long and that consistently, file a BBB complaint. It’s not your job to.m chase them down

BBB is pointless - it exists solely to protect the business, not to protect the consumer. (I say this as a former business owner who the BBB tried to hustle into joining them.)

Complaining on social media is more useful than complaining to the BBB.

But really, check into your local state's "lemon law" and find out what the process is. Start that process, and *THEN* complain to Rivian, saying you have started the lemon law process.

I disagree. I know one person who got a new R1S and one who got a new EV9 because of BBB. Was resolved in 2 weeks.

Though I agree with lemoning it, if you are able to take advantage of such a program.

Your tempered roof glass isn't going to crack based on temperature change unless it's extreme and sudden. If it wasn't there during delivery, you'll likely have to do an insurance claim or pay out of pocket to fix that. For your Rivian charger, you should be able to do an exchange if you're having issues. https://rivian.com/support/article/can-i-exchange-items

Thank you. It is the rear glass panel. The temperature difference was big. We had outside 101 degrees and inside I was cooling it down to 68. All the sudden it cracked.

Pretty sure Rivian would cover it if they can't determine an impact area causing the crack. They replaced my windshield after scratching it during a dash rattle fix. They got some black adhesive on my ocean coast passenger seat but I was able to get that up. Now they take pictures at the SC prior to working on any car where in the past I never noticed them doing that.

If I would get an appointment that someone is going to look at it… end of December is too late. If I am going to drive in a car wash, the panel would be smashed in. I am not driving 2 hours one way that someone is looking at it for 3min.

Agreed. I find them helpful. When I’ve engaged the BBB, the company responds quick then addresses the issue.

I don't think there is a lemon law on the country that would be applicable to a cracked glass roof panel...

Sucks you’re in this situation. Through the app upload multiple pics from outside top and all angles that you can get. Show there’s no Impact points and ask for review.
Ask them also if any location near you is a Rivian Certified repair shop, try and see if you can take it there for further assessment and potential quote.
At least quote details from shop will give back up to claim it likely is warranty claim or if they say otherwise then insurance may be the only other option for sooner resolution.

I have done that 5 weeks ago. I have uploaded 12 pictures and it is still under review.
all I want is that the Rivian mobile service comes out and confirm that there was no outside impact. Anytime I am asking that question, they tell me that they call back an provide me with an appointment but they never call back. Same with the charger. All is documented with an open case and pictures attached.

My personal experience: After various troubleshooting steps on my own, reported a non-functional Rivian home charger issue via a service ticket. Made multiple calls to service regarding status every 4-5 days when it seemed no action was being taken; walked thru various troubleshooting steps multiple times with service via phone; provided requested photos. Rivian confirmed they would replace. Replacement charger arrived 3.5 weeks after service ticket opened and replacement install was coordinated/scheduled by Rivian for 4 days after receipt of replacement charger.
Re: roof glass… do you have any aftermarket tint applied to the roof glass?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks and good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me some weeks ago. I got an appointment, went to Rivian, they inspected it and could not find any damage from rocks, etc. they replaced the glass roof at no cost.

I have a Tesla M3 L/R. Tesla mobile service is excellent (I had moisture in a taillight they replaced.) I have an R2 on order. These stories give me pause, especially since it will be a new model with some inevitable bugs.
