I am conflicted.

1. 2.6sec. I don't need it. I shouldn't have it. But, I want it.
2. 1,025 HP (see #1 above).
3. Quarter mile in 10.5 sec (see #1 above).
4. Staggered tyres. 275/305! The wheels are so sexy.
5. They said $115k is a steal! The more you read the more you end up agreeing.

I am amazed at how Rivian moves these beasts. It's a big heavy SUV yet, it moves very well. But, it's an SUV. I hope Rivian puts this magic into the RX3 or some hot supercar down the road. Shout out to our test driver Alan Ruck.
Sadly the R1S isn't... But the truck is, because there's no truck faster.

Those blue calipers do look sweet though. Love my yellow but the blue is quite nice.

I am absolutely not a fan of the Model X, but I had the sinking feeling that the range of the G² Quad Ascend was gonna be underwhelming and marginally what the current G¹ Quad is.

Seems like it'll be low 300's if not worse, but we'll see.

I know the article mentions that they never ran a Model X Plaid but they should really change the title to "Quickest SUV they tested".

The Plaid ran a GPS verified 2.3 seconds to 60
Or perhaps quickest SUV they've been paid to advertise would be even more accurate.

The exact quote is: "Due to Tesla's obstinance, MotorTrend has never had access to that 1,020-hp SUV"

It's not exactly hard to get a hold of a Model X at this point. If they stuck a note on their homepage asking their readers if they could borrow one for a day, they would get 100 yeses within 10 minutes.

Or perhaps when they said "Tesla's obstinance" they actually meant MotorTrend's obstinance with regards to reviewing vehicles that the manufacturer does not pay them to review.

My best guess is range wasn't the #1 priority of the G2 QM and the majority of potential buyers will be just fine with whatever it is.

Delusions of grandeur are strong. I keep thinking of the scene in the first Fast & the Furious movie where Brian says he owes Dom a 10 second car.

Edit: meaning the new QM is a “ten second car” and is something we could own.

/cue someone flipping on NOX switch and Dom saying “too soon”

116K and 274 mile range. Tempting but my G1 looks such a steal in comparison. Except for that color, so good!
Yeah, but:

EPA RANGE, COMBUp to 355 miles (mfr est)

274 miles... Rivian you just broke my heart forever. Tri-Motor it is ?

paul-rudd-you-are-breaking-my-heart.gif
I’m betting it’s 90% the tires contributing to the range loss, not the QM.

In my Tesla MY performance, there was a big hit getting the performance model but it was because of the tires that came with it. At the time it only came with staggered summer tires. Get the stealth performance model and range was the same as a LR AWD.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Cayenne Crusher, Urus Undoer, Hummer Humiliator: 2025 Rivian R1S Quad Motor Is the Quickest SUV Ever!
Four-motor magic makes the updated R1S a capable and thrilling high-performance SUV.

Looks awesome, and I hope my inevitable divorce is worth it.

Also - I take issue with "shockingly poor efficiency" when they say that only in terms of spirited driving. These guys ever been on a track with an ICE car? Not like you're pulling EPA numbers there.

True. I would have gladly let them review my XP to be able to use that to my advantage when selling it lol.

"Featured in MotorTrend."

For what it's worth, someone out there would be ticked by this and cave in to my future asking price. ?

I don't get the rave reviews about handling. My R1S handles great for a 7000 lb SUV with 9" clearance, but it still feels like a big SUV around corners. Maybe I'm not pushing it hard enough? I really feel like my Macan handles way better. Not even close...
Could be the tires. I'm running 21" so I don't have the high performance tires.
