And spare lives. One of the most tragic incidents I was part of in Iraq involved a crash with fuel tankers. Reducing those convoys would free up a lot of force.

Once they go 50 miles they're just normal ICE trucks needing fuel then. In an austere environment there isn't a use case for only 50 miles of range and still hauling the weight of the batteries and electric drivetrain components once the charge is depleted. The trucks will still need a full diesel engine and driveline to move the required loads without electric assist.Making tactical vehicles as PHEV’s with ~50 mile range will do amazing things for force projection and reducing supply lines. It ain’t gonna happen for tanks and Bradley’s, but it could easily happen for Humvees and LMTV’s.
Sigh.Another fun read! I'm curious to see how quickly this title, post, and thread goes south ?

Russia's Kadyrov equips Tesla truck with machinegun for war
Aug 17 (Reuters) - The leader of Russia's Chechnya region, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video on Saturday of himself driving a Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab Cybertruck with what looked like a machinegun mounted on top, saying he would send it to the Ukraine conflict zone.
Kadyrov, known for extravagant publicity stunts, heaped praise on both the vehicle and Tesla Motors chief executive Elon Musk on the Telegram messaging app, calling him the "strongest genius of modern times" and inviting Musk to Chechnya.
"We... await your future products that will help us finish the special military operation," Kadyrov wrote, using the official term by which Russia describes its war in Ukraine.
There was no immediate comment from Tesla.
Hybrids can be made more fuel efficient or faster with big batteries. Especially diesel hybrids.Once they go 50 miles they're just normal ICE trucks needing fuel then. Hybrid can also mean range extender, where the ICE does not power the drivetrain directly. Mazda's rotary RE is promising, if they've found a way to improve durability. Very small and efficient at low rpm. Could be adapted to run on diesel and hydrogen.Hybrids can be made more fuel efficient or faster with big batteries. Especially diesel hybrids.
This is just weird. All my nice rifles are in cases/bags and would still fit in there fine (with magazines, ear protection, etc.)From 2024 Sound of Silence Tesla event. Custer, SD. Had a gun mount in the bed (Russian style). Vendor is selling frunk gun mounts for various types of guns. To each his own...

Anyone who's been to Bahrain can vouch for the number of Gem carts rolling around. We imported a bunch in 2019 and got the finger wag, they quickly implemented a unit per capita limit. They are already testing multiple platforms. Mostly for base operations.
Pure awesomeness. From 2024 Sound of Silence Tesla event. Custer, SD. Had a gun mount in the bed (Russian style). Vendor is selling frunk gun mounts for various types of guns. To each his own...

Valid point, but the front gun mounts are clearly more for show, while having the advantage of speed to access them. This is just weird. All my nice rifles are in cases/bags and would still fit in there fine (with magazines, ear protection, etc.)
The truck can’t handle the recoil.I'd love to see a modded frunk that opens from the front with dual 30mm M320 chain guns. Let the imagination sore.
Yep. We were called on to do missions that would work well for a PHEV platform. Many could be done in under 50 miles.Once they go 50 miles they're just normal ICE trucks needing fuel then. ??Better get some armored flatbed tow trucks ready.
