Others already said it but;
1. Follow the instructions that came with your adapter
2. Know that not all Tesla Suoercharger locations allow charging other EVs (regardless of adapter). You must identify which locations are available to you via ABRP, your vehicle navigation or the Tesla app. This is not new or secret information
Check and check. Next step to do slow destination charge away from where we are staying

it also would pop up no vehicle detected as an error message.
This error means that A2Z hasn't "mated" with the tesla supercharger plug correctly. I used some dry lubricant to help break in the adapter. You may think it's locked or inserted correctly, but it is not. I had the same reaction the first time I tried it. The lock switch seems to need a breakin. Once it's broken it you shouldn't feel much resistance. The A2Z also take a couple of times before the fit with the tesla plug is optimal. As others have noted, the A2Z is only for tesla superchargers, need a separate adapter for destination chargers.

@kbradley926 - My A2Z Typhoon Pro just shipped so I can't help directly, but has it worked at any superchargers or are you using it for the first time on vacation? If it's consistently causing the charger to reset it really sounds like you have a malfunctioning adapter.

Also - the A2Z instructions have you plugging the adapter into the vehicle first and then plugging in the charging plug. Can you confirm that's what you're doing?

Here's the A2Z contact info - call them!

Make sure it shows as “Adapter needed” compatible charger of 250kW. The icon is lit up in the Rivian App and not grayed out.

I had gotten the same issue/error because I went to a station that was not 250kW which won’t work.

The first time I used my A2Z adapter it was very tight and I had a hard time sliding the lock mechanism to the locked position. Make sure the lock button on the bottom of the adapter is in the unlocked position, firmly press the supercharger handle into the adapter, then slide the locking tab. If its firmly inserted the locking tab should slide into the locking position.

After the first time, my A2Z adapter works great and charging is a breeze.

Have you ever used public charging (like Rivian, EA or EVGO) with your vehicle before successfully? If you just plug it into your Rivian without the Tesla app does it detect the plug?

Can you double check to see if the Tesla charger you used supports Rivians?
Find Us, Tesla look for map, or Rivian navigation should tell you if the charger you used supports NACS charging for Rivians.

Dry lubrication and use the tire to force it on then make sure the lock is secure.

Keep in mind there are different adapters. There is one adapter type that can be used on L2 chargers (J1772) , this is an AC adapter and cannot be used for L3 DC charging. There is another adapter that is for L3 charging (CCS) this is DC and cannot be used for AC charging.
