Leer Bed Cap Topper and Brush Guard spotted on Rivian R1T manufacturer plated vehicle

I know there was a picture of this brush/grill guard once before.....but sitting at the Richmond SC on Tuesday as this Manufacturer Plated R1T with the guard and a Leer Custom Cap.

Pictures of how the guard is mounted and the cap are below. Looks like the cap has cutouts for the gear tunnel and tailgate buttons. No reference to this cap on the Leer website.

Neither of these are for me....but some may want/need.

That is very ugly. I sort of assume they’re testing customizations for a fleet order or something— look at the added lights on the front quarter panels.

It has the flashing lights on the bottom of the front bumper, qtr panels, rear bumper and light bars inside at top of windshield.

I can see the utility and I am sure many would like these, the color matched paint is a choice I wouldn't make.

I'm a bit surprised that (now) 2 years after launch there isn't a cap / canopy for the R1T. Uncertainty about that was one of the reasons we switched to an R1S - we need to carry a dog in the back in the rainy PNW.

Agreed to the color match, I'll take black to accent/match the spoiler and trim.

What if they popped out that center brake light and just plugged in an extension line there?

You never know, does that mean you want to take my bet... haha

I thought I read the OEM light was Bluetooth and battery powered and integral to the spoiler. Most likely it just comes with wiring to plug it into the trailer wiring so in that sense it probably does 'work' with some compromises.

You know, I was typing up a "what if it's Bluetooth integrated to Rivian specific software?" And thought to myself, you sound way smarter than you really are, erase that.

I wondered about powering a Bluetooth device, you still need 12v, but that's easy to link into. How would you recharge/replace these batteries?

I don't think the light is serviceable, requires spoiler replacement according to Rivian if it is removed but now that I think about it that doesn't make much sense with my previous statement so probably I don't know anything at all ?‍

Ugly doesn't matter for utilitarian uses.

The same brush guard has ben used on the units rivian has supplied to game wardens in Africa etc. @opnwide spotted them in denver too.

it's integrated with the spoiler in that replacement means replacing the spoiler, bluetooth and battery powered would be crazy when a wire works just fine.
