The OP, “Daniel Wilcox”, who originally stated he got a “bad boy” email from Rivian, suspiciously shares the name with this guy (link below) who is…wait for it….an inter at…….RIVIAN!?. Coincidence? Maybe. But considering he is the only one who seems to have gotten an erroneous email when THOUSANDS of others have been using 3rd party adapters is a little suspicious. He must suck at being an intern.

Ummm the Facebook Wilcox is a horse, this is clearly a ruse to get people to stop using cars and switch back to his industry having been supplanted by ICE then EV. HORSES UNITE!

If Rivian cared, it would certainly be easy for them to mine the data and see who is charging through to Tesla and whether or not they've received an official Rivian adapter. It won't work for too long because as soon as there are a couple thousand adapters out there how are they to say that you didn't use one of theirs? I guess there could be serial numbers or something passed from the Tesla SC to Rivian...

the Good news is I haven’t had to use Rivian warranty and don’t expect to. Too soon?

If Rivian really, really don’t want you to use 3rd party adapters, they could refuse the connection (via the Rivian vehicle) at any Tesla Supercharger that requires an adapter until they ship the official adapter out to you

I am actually somewhat surprised they haven't done this....

Just wanted to verify here on the forums, but someone recently posted on Facebook that they received an email from Rivian stating that Rivian was aware they were using an aftermarket NACS adapter and that it would void their warranty if they continued using it.

Anybody else get an email like this?

Link to the convo:

Didn't know if it was a private group but, here's the screenshot:

Or they don’t care enough to implement this in a software update

I actually doubt they can tell the difference...

This is so dumb, can someone close this thread!

Rivian could care less what you do with your truck, they have enough problems to deal with already.

Or just maybe they are intelligent enough to understand that people might share adapters. Or maybe they have two (or three!) and have received an adapter for one that they are using with the others.

Locking out vehicles that have not been shipped adapters is simply not a good idea; for Rivian or their customers.

Unless someone dies....then it will be "jeez...they knew people were using 3rd party untested and unapproved adapters and did nothing about it"....

Maybe, but they have made it clear 3rd party adapters are not to be used.

On the other hand they know that people are routinely going 100 mph +, and otherwise driving in an unsafe manner.
