Just wanted to verify here on the forums, but someone recently posted on Facebook that they received an email from Rivian stating that Rivian was aware they were using an aftermarket NACS adapter and that it would void their warranty if they continued using it.

Anybody else get an email like this?

Link to the convo:

Didn't know if it was a private group but, here's the screenshot:

I used my A2Z adapter a couple of weekends ago as a trial to see if the adapter worked and did not get any email warnings from Rivian. There are quite a number of others on this forum that have used a non-Rivian provided NACS adapter, and from I have seen no one else has reported getting an email from Rivian.

If you saw it on Facebook, most probably it is bull$hit.

I am sorry, but just reading that language proves the person is full of $hit. My dog could write a better comment.
Unfortunately, poor grammar doesn't make someone incorrect. I assume Rivian is perfectly capable of knowing who has an adapter that was sent to them and who would be charging on a supercharger that did not receive an adapter. Worth verifying with the larger community here though. That said, he was asked to provide the email, which he said he was not able to so he may very well be full of it.

Yes and no. What if I borrowed someones official adaptor? There is no basis for them proving anything unless they can verify digitally that it is not an official adaptor.

Not that we would of course . . . . (paranoia setting in)

Here's my post from another thread on this forum...

"Glad to see others using this adaptor (Vortex) as well. I just past my 36th charge working/driving around New York State.
I've even found a few Magic Docks where the built-in adaptor would not "push-in & pull-out", so I used my Vortex & still pull 215kW on a proper conditioned battery.
If you plan to use it multiple times a week, I suggest you sign up for the membership & drop from $0.53 to $0.39 per kW, but it's no longer "Plug-n-Charge", you have to start the charge from the app before you plug-in.
Unfortunately, I have the defective version where the tesla connector "can" be pulled out, but mines very hard to do that to. The replacement arrived yesterday at a previous motel I stayed at where the original one was shipped to 5 weeks ago & now & I have to drive 2.5 hrs. sometime this week to go get it, lmao..."

and.. I just used another "NACS" required SC/DCFC in North Hudson, NY today as well & I have not received an email from Rivian, just the receipt for the charges, because I forgot to start the charge in the Tesla app first. :like:

By law, Rivian would have to prove the your choice of adapter caused the failure. If the adapters, in reality are pretty much identical, like motor oils that created this law, Rivian would lose and could wind up in a class action. They do not need, or want that kind of negative publicity.
I ordered my A2Z last week. I most likely will not own this truck by the time they get to shipping the adapter to me.

The OP, “Daniel Wilcox”, who originally stated he got a “bad boy” email from Rivian, suspiciously shares the name with this guy (link below) who is…wait for it….an inter at…….RIVIAN!🤔. Coincidence? Maybe. But considering he is the only one who seems to have gotten an erroneous email when THOUSANDS of others have been using 3rd party adapters is a little suspicious. He must suck at being an intern.

I went to school with someone of the same name and he's neither one of these guys, lol. My point being it's not an unusual name. Agree, if he's the only one saying that he received this email, then this is a nothingburger.
