Well I don't know what to say here... I guess this is what blind faith in Tesla gets you... a broken finger.

Edit: For fun the best reply in the comments:

"Next time he should try with his Johnson. Will hopefully prevent yet more stupid people from being in this world."
I support all Tesla CT owners doing this test so that I will be able to identify them on the street by their twisted, broken fingers.

Yeah I voted no for that BS.
Rivian R1T R1S Entire Tesla Supercharger team fired (Update: Elon Musk says supercharger network growth will continue). ** ⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS ** Screenshot 2024-05-03 104719

Anyway, best of luck to Elmo in getting the TSLA board and shareholders to approve his demands of another $55 billion paycheck. I doubt the rampage firing salary savings will cover that, but then again the guy sold non-fuctional FSD upgrades to the cult for years.

In a way though - his temper tantrum could be a good thing for the industry in the very long term. Bad for TSLA, though, obviously.

Similar to how him buying and burning twitter to the ground has resulted in a boom of choice among social media choices. There would be no Threads, Blue Sky, or a booming Mastodon if not for the Twitter death spiral.

Let's hope he fires the Starlink and large swaths of SpaceX next. Its a major failure of our government to lazily allow so much DoD and NASA reliance on such an unreliable individual.

On the other hand, I did do this to my thumb when closing the gear tunnel a few weeks ago! Even worse, the door re-latched partway open with my thumb stuck!!! Ouch!

My past posts, whether made in jest or not, clearly put me in the "hater" camp, but I think that there's room for some moderation of, if not the past success you outline in your post, at least the shine job being made of this action and the discussion of his "vision". Clearly he has done (or more accurately, led others in doing, which is not a diminishment, IMO) amazing things with some of the companies he's led. However, the story coming out about how this latest move happened does not indicate that this was a concerted effort on the part of the company to "reset, reprioritize, reallocate, and realign". If it's to be believed that this was a reaction to pushback from a subordinate, then so be it and we will see what comes out of it, but characterizing it as something else undermines credibility.

My, and I think many peoples' concern is when too much power is invested in too few hands and how that can make us all impacted by their whims as they are increasingly distanced from the reality that the rest of the world has to live in. This is an example of that and many of the posts here touch on this concern. It's all fun and games and "omg, he's so amazing" until he goes full Howard Hughes. His "vision" may not be the utopia you might think it is, and sometimes we don't find that out until it's too late. Some of us see doom and gloom, some see a messiah... and some of us just want to urge caution.
I totally agree that too much power vested in single person is not good for any society. But the visceral inclination to bet against the greatest serial entrepreneur of our time is borderline lunacy, especially without studying 10k report or Elon’s reasoning. Restructuring is always hard, but time will tell if his full throttle in autonomous driving while divesting from other parts of business will pay off in a few years. I happen to believe EVs and charging will be commoditized with razor thin margin, and software in autonomous driving will drive the profit. Elon sees the future while this forum breeds blinded hate.

I guess Musk's solution for solving the innovator's dilemma is to fire all of the innovators.
Well, he fired an entire team of Starlink engineers who didn’t feel the urgency of Elon in 2018, and now look what happened to Starlink?

Exactly. They were underperforming and didn't feel the urgency. That's opposite what the supercharger team is doing. It's just a rash reaction from the CEO. That's it.

As for Sandy, I don't care what he thinks. He's a smart dude, but he has bad takes sometimes. I think his position was fair if "Elon downsized supercharging", however from all accounts it sounded like Elon went postal and laid everyone off.

My gut feel is quality will degrade, then he'll blame the NACS stuff. Hell, maybe the NACS standard stuff was done without his approval while he was dicking around at X and this is retribution over the charging team.

Either way, I think we're stuck with NACS moving forward, hopefully conditions at EA sites improve. If they were smart they would see this as a major opportunity to win their customers back.
Charging is a lower margin business after huge upfront cost, and EA may not have the resources to improve.
