The R2 is essential to Rivian's strategy. That's why they're going to start building it in Normal and not Georgia. If the R2 is cancelled, it's because Rivian is filing for bankruptcy.
Yes R2 & R3 are critical to further absolute success and I hope they start making them this year 2024 in Normal, ILL.

I have warned people who bought more RIVN due to R2 announcement. When a company likely runs out of cash before even producing R2, profitability and slower cash burn rate are what actually matter.

Why RIVN almost always drops more than TSLA? When the EV industrial is under over supply, Tesla will have less profits. However, Rivian will lose even more money, leading to a possible bankruptcy.

I’m afraid there are only two catalysts will make RIVN go up. One, an accelerated EV market. Two, gross margin positive.

Completely foolish of RIVN management to not raise capital when the stock was considerably higher. It's foolish of them not to raise capital TODAY. Rookie mistakes and the shareholders will pay the price.

What's important to understand is the risk you'll take. If someone bought RIVN with little money (say 1% or less of their investment portfolio) that's one thing. But if you're buying or bought RIVN that constitutes a much larger portion of your investment portfolio, that is much different.

So always take that into account when someone says they're "buying more" or "selling it all " if that's going to influence you.

This sounds from a seasoned investor. As a R1s owner, I want the company to survive. However, I wouldn’t invest even a single share in it. Why? It is not sustainable that your flagship cars don’t even produce 15% gross margin.

These cars are supposed to demand the highest margins. People like to compare Rivian to early Tesla. But Tesla had over 20% gross margin with model S alone.

In certain way, I bought R1s because it is too good for its cost.

This is beyond frustrating. A lot of day traders are just looking for a quick buck and they’re shorting stocks that they know are on the decline due to the economy, which is making matters worse. They’re literally hurting the financial prospects of a company and the SEC turns a blind eye.

I think shorting should be banned since the investor is hoping a company does poorly so they can use a loophole in the system to cash in.

You’re supposed to buy low and sell high, not borrow a security from your broker whose price you think is going to fall and then sell it on the open market, so that you can then buy the same stock back later, hopefully for a lower price than you initially sold it for, return the borrowed stock to your broker, and pocket the difference.
When I first heard about stock shorting years ago in a college economics class, I was amazed and apalled that it was legal. I read up on it and discovered that it goes back to the 1930s.....

Actually Tesla stock looks very attractive as it took massive beat down lately. Hopefully All the bad news are out; latest being layoff of 10 % workforce which is actually good for their bottom line. $99 monthly FSD on 2 million cars will generate high margin yearly revenue and likely to grow with licensing OEMs. With high interest rate not withstanding, Tesla has other revenue sources.
Tesla's stock is still incredibly overpriced. You people are crazy for saying other stocks need to trade off fundamentals but totally willing to ignore the same for Tesla.

Short sellers will try to take it down to net cash value. It could also turn into a magnificent short squeeze if RJ can surprise with an EDV deal or announcing R2 for start of 2025 !

No one is going to subscribe to FSD at $99 who hasn’t already

Yes raise capital NOW. They should have done a secondary in the fall when they saw sales collapsing and the stock price was in the mid $20s. They should have done it in the first quarter because nothing was changing. The same is true today. You raise capital when you can and right now while the stock is beaten they still have equity value that they can sell. Otherwise they will run out of money and be out of time and options.

Rivian should avoid raising capital through dilutive means right now while the stock is basically at cash value. Management does need to control costs to ensure they can get through the launch of R2. I still think they deep in the process of doing that with the re-tooling and re-negotiation of their supply chain.
