That is one over engineered sound....if I could hear it when on freeway, or have music on.

Admit it, how many of us do the Rivian Turn Signal Duck (maybe a quack would be lounder?) to visually verify it's on or not

I love my R1T (had it for 18 months) but the two things I don't like are the HVAC system and the turn signal sound. I liked the higher pitch wood sounds they had in the video before they lowered them. I find I avoid using the turn signal when stopped at a light to turn until I'm actually moving, I find the sound of it that annoying. But this is definitely a very minor issue, not a big deal.

“Old news” I guess means you’ve seen/heard something that others have not? Kinda like Hans Werner Henze’s Double Concerto having been written for oboist Heinz Holliger and his wife, harpist Ursula Holliger, is old news because I know that and you don’t? Got it!!

I personally like the sound and every time I drive a Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Kia whatever rental car I'm reminded of what a terrible noise REALLY IS!

Interesting. I was under the mistaken impression that it was the sound of a water droplet. I think the service center rep at our test drive said something to that effect.

I respect the ways in which Rivian diverges from conventions that "replicate something that isn't there". EV's with piped-in exhaust notes and those that emulate an automatic transmission by creeping forward when you lift off the brake are two other conventions that I am glad Rivian has ditched.

Rivian published it in February 2022 so I don't think it was an April fool's Day joke.

“Old news” I guess means you’ve seen/heard something that others have not?

I think by old news they mean Rivian spammed everyone an email with this story more than a year ago.
