I am in an urban area and it looks like the 72kw urban superchargers are not Rivian compatible.

Those, from what I remember when I had a Tesla, fell under the V2 hardware / software.

Glad to see the progress but it's of little help in the southwest. Everyone of the superchargers I've counted on for exploring the southern half of Colorado, areas of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico remain unavailable. Every one of these locations in this huge area remain "incompatible" even once we have an adapter.

I believe that v1/v2 stations, while using the same plug style (not NACS), operate on a different comms protocol that is proprietary to Tesla. With the v3/v4 stations, Tesla moved to the same comms protocol as CCS1 and that's why NACS can work with CCS1/2. So until Tesla updates/modifies the older stations, they won't be available to NACS/CCS1 vehicles but Teslas are backwards compatible with them.

Tesla Model S, Ford F150, Rivian in a few weeks!
I'm assuming the Lectron adapter won't work?

Nope that is the AC adapter, you need to get the Lectron or A2Z DC adapter.

I was wondering if they would track back to see if you had gotten an adaptor.... I'm so paranoid as it's a very expensive vehicle I wouldn't want to be accused of bricking.

If I were at Rivian, i'd charge $200 for adapters this year and say "but everyone gets them for free next year."

Extra revenue and helps to let people self-prioritize.

I'd go one step further...

$500 gets you one in April.
$400 May
$300 June
$200 July

Free...2025.
I'm so relieved that you guys are not working at Rivian.

I always thought they should charge for them....data too...but what do I know...

Just hope all the people waiting for their adapters don't cause more damage to Rivian if months pass by and they don't have them as quick as Rivian inferred would be the case.

I don’t even get the different brands as a choice. I deleted and reinstalled the app.

FYI, I am not currently a RIvian owner, just getting things ready. Would this make a difference? The Tesla app has the Rivian option available already

Can any of you rich folks order 2 of the A2Z Typhoon, and then break one open so we can see what's inside it?

Is it completely passive where its really just routing wires? Or is there any active electronic on it?

I have no problems using an adapter if it indeed is passive. Obviously I'd stick around while it charged the first time or two to see what kind of heat rise it would have.

Did you flip off the "adapter needed" selector in the app? I did that in your area and found tons of SuperChargers available. There was one near Hookset that showed unavailable but plenty of other options.
Yes I did, or I would have seen nothing north of Boston - no magic docks in the area.

I just checked those chargers on the supercharge.info map. Hooksett and Lincoln NH, Berlin VT and Queensbury and Plattsburgh NY are all listed as 150 or even 120 kW which means they’re still v2 and incompatible with CCS charging. Being a long-term Tesla owner I’ve generally charged at some of the earlier stations which were often placed in key locations (eg Hooksett is at the NH Welcome Center service area on I-93, with good food options, a State Liquor Store, and a little shack selling coffee and wonderful Apple cider donuts).

West Lebanon NH is a hybrid - last year or in 2022 they added 8 v3 stalls to the existing 8 v2 stalls, so they probably don’t list it to avoid confusing people. But I wonder if those v3s actually work anyway? I’ll give it a try when I get my adapter.

These adapters are passive, but they do have a temperature sensor that can trigger the charging to stop.
