Those of you who are supportive of all the stupid laws and regulations created to make us safer are going to hate the fact that I put a volume control on my pedestrian speaker and usually have it turned all the way to silence. It is beautiful to hear nothing but the crinkling of leaves as I back out of my driveway. And my car isn't any less safe.

If some idiotic regulator decides to ban the CT, it will just be one more example of how government regulations destroy creativity and new ideas, new products, and innovations that could really benefit society.

I agree that it's ugly, but that's personal preference/opinion.

What I disagree with is that it has to be like all other cars. What if this new way of engineering cars with exoskeletons is far safer in the long run? Heck if we take any modern car vs one from the 70s we know who is gonna lose that battle. Should we roll back safety advancements to the 70s? I take issue with people critiquing advancements in technology without there being any data to support their claims. By that logic let's remove semi trucks, armored vans etc and let's just go back to horse and carriage. This really has nothing to do with Tesla, it's about people's refusal to embrace change especially when that change comes from someone they don't like. Let's not forget that Hagerty, a vehicle insurance provider, gave it rave reviews for being the safest truck ever made.
It doesn’t have an “exoskeleton”. It’s a Honda ridgeline with stainless steel panels.

I would prefer a Ridgeline EV over that abomination. To each…

Yup. I would much rather be hit by a Ram 2500, because it has softer edges, LOL!
You speak like someone with experience getting hit by Ram trucks.

Might explain some of your posts.

:p

I kid...I kid..

The Cybertruck definitely has an exoskeleton, no other vehicle has ever been built like it, especially not a Ridgeline! The thick durable skin panels are actually perimeter bonded using high strength structural adhesives.

The 2500 lb. cargo capacity and 11,000 lbs. of towing capacity (at a curb weight less than the smaller Rivian) is the direct result of using the thick durable skin for additional structural strength and rigidity when heavily loaded.

When I see misguided statements, like that the Cybertruck doesn't have an exoskeleton, I feel like I should educate. Most of those types of statements are the direct result of people who are so biased, and so brainwashed, that they can no longer distinguish the truth from total BS. They actually need to take a step back and try to grasp reality.

We have enough fake news from corporate sources that we certainly don't need individuals spreading more around. If those kinds of statements aren't corrected, it leads to a bad place, a place where nothing is real and people spread lies uncontested, because no one cares anymore.

If it had an exoskeleton, it wouldn't need or use gigacastings.

Exoskeleton means that ALL the structural elements are on the outside surface.

I know about exoskeletons because I have done work involving military airframes, which generally ARE exoskeletons.

Do you spread Elon’s BS for him for free? Man, at least ask him for a few dollars.

According to the lead of vehicle engineering at Tesla, Lars Moravy, the exoskeleton is a composite structure made up of not only the thick, high-strength skin, but also the underlying structures like the boron steel passenger safety cage, the aluminum gigacastings, etc. These structural elements are bonded and bolted together as one unitized exoskeleton that increases strenth and rigidity while reducing overall weight. Lars said the large gigacastings are surprisingly ductile and need the stiffening of the stainless panels for added rigidity.

Military airframes also have a stressed skin on the underlying metal framework so that's another good example of an exoskeleton design that saves weight.

All the noise claiming the Cybertruck is not an exoskeleton is simply a lame attempt to frame Tesla as having nothing special. But the specs and weight don't lie.
