The Rolling Stone ? That thing is still in business ?
They are just grasping at straws nowadays.... look at their new "The 250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list:
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...s-1234814010/stevie-ray-vaughan-8-1234814260/

They rate SRV at number 20!!
Look at people they rate better than SRV:
18 Tom Morello
15 Keith Richards
14 Prince
13 Tony Iommi
11 Carlos Santana
10 Duane Allman
9 Joni Mitchell
5 Jeff Beck
4 Eddie Van Halen

Really? SRV at # 20???? o_O

Zero respect for Rolling Stone!

Not my opinion, but the opinion of people who's opinion actually carries weight.

Dec 8 (Reuters) - The angular design of Tesla's (TSLA.O) Cybertruck has safety experts concerned the electric pickup truck's stiff stainless-steel exoskeleton could hurt pedestrians and cyclists and damage other vehicles on roads.
Yup. I would much rather be hit by a Ram 2500, because it has softer edges, LOL!

It's interesting to me how many forums actually take the CT seriously. IMHO it's a gimmick, a bad joke. It's at best, the 21st century Delorean and at worst (and more likely) the 21st century H3.

It's interesting to me how many forums actually take the Rivian R1T seriously. IMHO it's a gimmick, a bad joke. It's at best, the 21st century Delorean and at worst (and more likely) the 21st century H3.

Actually, I don't really believe that, I just took your statement and replaced CT with Rivian R1T to illustrate what a silly statement it is.

Serious question: Which do you think will sell more in the coming year:

CT or R1T?

I think the R1T would have to pull off a miracle to beat the Cybertruck sales going forward. It sounds like you disagree? One more question: Do you have a strong history of correctly predicting future sales of specific models?

I didn't think so. I mean, by an objective measure, the R1T should cream the Cybertruck. It's been in production for well over 2 years already while the Cybertruck just started ramping production last week. And, by most people's analysis, it's a much harder truck to produce, with more new technology, 48V low-voltage system, steer-by-wire, and a never before implemented way to build the chassis.

As next year draws to a close, we will see what the production figures show.

They, presumably, make the argument that it's unsafe because it weighs over 6k lbs and could harm other motorists. I guess us Rivian owners must be driving extremely dangerous vehicles at over 7k lbs ?.
The truth is, they don't really care about pedestrians, they just want to attack something.

And buyers certainly don't care about pedestrian safety otherwise pickup trucks, with poor forward visibility when it comes to seeing children shorter than the hood, would not be the best-selling vehicles in America.

Personally, I do care about pedestrian safety and think all trucks are hard and can inflict deadly injuries when they impact humans. The focus should be on preventing those impacts. That is done with lower hood lines, and better emergency braking for pedestrians, two areas in which Tesla leads.

The weight of a vehicle matters little in a pedestrian impact because a 3000 lb. vehicle doesn't slow down significantly when it hits a 100 lb. human. Hoping for vehicles with less weight for pedestrian safety is like hoping you have good running shoes on, with thick high-cushion soles, when you fall off a 20-story balcony. It ain't gonna help.

Not sure what one has to do with the other.

GM sold a bunch of H2s (i meant the H2 not H3 although they were both pretty horrendous) but that doesn't mean that the vehicles weren't dumb to begin with.

As Mencken said, nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American people.

I group this kind of stuff into the same pot as the folks who make claims such as "all EVs run on coal" or "All EVs come from China". What About the 18 wheelers and other heavy trucks driving US roads every day? Those are much much heavier than a Rivian or a CT.

A RAM 1500 can weigh as little as 4800 lbs or as much as 6500 lbs depending on options. By their definition the roads have been very unsafe for a very long time.

Seems like click bait to me or an attempt to make themselves feel relevant and/or important.

Even 2024 sales numbers may not tell the story if Tesla has significant ramp up challenges. But it’s likely the CT will outsell the R1T.

Jack Daniel’s and Coors also outsell Angels Envy and Sierra Nevada. It’s all about personal taste and preference. CT appeals to a vastly different demographic than the R1T, with maybe 10%-15% overlap in the Venn Diagram, based on comments here.

Can someone put together some odds on a betting site somewhere? CT outsells R1T in 2024, CT outsells R1T in 2025, CT sells more than 100,000 units in under 5 years, etc.

I would love to see everyone put their money where their mouth is, so the other side can gloat when the obvious outcome arrives. ?

Did someone here claim the CT would not outsell the R1T? Personally even with Tesla's inflated projections I assumed the CT would sell more than the R1T at least in the first couple years. To me all that means is there are tons of gullible people out there with questionable taste. :D

Right? Rolling Stone is owned/controlled by Penske which really makes their money from ICE dealerships and truck rentals. They are economically opposed to all things Tesla (and Rivian for that matter). This isn’t the first time RS has written an ideological hit piece and it won’t be the last.

For 2025, sure, Tesla will produce lots of CTs. It isn't clear how slow the production ramp will be for 2024. I fully expect R1T and Lightning each to outsell CT in 1Q24 and maybe even in 2Q24. I'm a minority opinion in the Tesla community, but I suspect Tesla will slow roll their ramp to catch issues with all the advanced tech they've crammed into the CT.

32,000 lb motorhomes driven by 80-somethings in Florida - that is a scary thought

I could definitely see that happening as well.

I spent a couple years delivering furniture when I was young and they had us get a CDL certification before we could drive the company's 26' box trucks every day. They are literally the same trucks Uhaul will rent to anyone with a pulse. ?

I don’t even think U-Haul asked for my license last spring on a 26’ box with air brakes
No instruction, no caution about the huge rear overhang and the swing out that sends the ass end into your neighbors lane.
You need a cdl here to deliver flowers in a micro truck barely bigger than a roller skate
