Therapy session over at this place:
Some familiar names in that thread that spend time here crapping on Rivian. Not surprised at all. Hope @mini2nut isn't too disappointed tomorrow.

I *might* be in the minority here, but I am looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. I am not at all a Tesla hater and I've owned their products previously and may do so again in the future.

When they first unveiled the Cybertruck I thought it was just ridiculous, like they were faking us out. Over time it has grown on me.

However - I don't have a reservation and my preference is strongly for the R1T. The Cybertruck is just a tad too big of a vehicle for me and I prefer many of the R1T's traditional features (and looks) such as USS, 360 camera, blind spot monitoring, etc.

This is going to be a boom or bust product. It will sell extremely well or very poorly. I have absolutely no idea which to expect.

Will this impact Rivian? Possibly. If the news tomorrow is negative, that could mean more people take a look at the R1T instead. If they show off tons of unexpected features, that could drive interest.

My best guess is that Rivian will be completely fine and the market is very different. Though I do know some people who have Range Rover, Mercedes SUV/G-Wagon type vehicles with Cybertruck reservations. It's an interesting market out there.

Either way, competition is great. More consumer choice is great. It's a radical product, I can't believe they are actually going to ship this thing, but I really want to see what happens.

Hopefully, this will get more people to consider a dual motor large pack R1T more. Of course, unless you’re really committed to driving a stainless steel dishwasher around town
Personally I give an additional $10K to have that WAY less bendable stainless body on an R1T… and just get it painted whatever color I want.

The CT is not for me but for all of the Tesla investors and employees I hope it goes well for them.

Except v4 chargers aren’t going to be ubiquitous by any means over the next few years. And by 2026, Rivian and others will also have 800v charging out.

If Tesla and Tesla stans didn’t hype up this CT to such levels, none of this would be as amusing as it is now.
I'm sure they will activate the 1000v capability of the v3 stations, and or be able to charge at max rate of a 400v station through software and be able to hold 250kw for a long time. Also they can use CCS 350kw stations eith their adapter that they've had for years

Power electronics are completely different in order to get over the 500V hump. It's easy to make a cable that insulates those voltages. But that's not even half of the equation.

I agree, I'm not a Tesla guy but I'm not against them, I've just never owned one I've driven plenty though

I had a reservation for the cybertruck that I got on day 1 of its announcement (as you know, like with Rivian software updates, I just like the excitement).

I did cancel my reservation and got the R1T instead, I’m not looking back at all. Very happy with Rivian (I’ve been a Tesla owner in the past).

However, as a product and something to stirr people out of their ICE-holes, I think all power to Tesla and Cybertruck.

I don’t have a problem for the cybertruck per se. Definitely not for me. But I am amused by how much difference there will be between actual versus expectations when it comes to capabilities—the hype has gone out of control

265 miles?!
Sparse, and "cheap af material," it seems... Watch the price plummet a year or so after production - After "The Great Charlatan" soaks the blind followers for all they are worth.... :giggle:

Hype out of control? I don't know where you could get that. I fully expect to be able to tow the moon through the ocean while withstanding an attack from a 14th century archery boat with my Cybertruck.

In other words, a nice normal Tuesday

Looks like the top tier "Beast Mode" gets 845 hp. So basically a wash with a QM R1T
