We are moving in the next few weeks. My wife has a Lincoln Navigator L with a towing capacity of 8,000 lbs. I was hoping to drive her car while towing my Rivian R1T. Has anyone done this? Is it possible, or does the Rivian weigh too much? And, if it's possible, what car carrier did you use?

Depends on capability of tow vehicle, rating of hitch and rating of trailer. If you can’t drive it yourself, better off hiring a vehicle hauler.

How far are you moving? Are we talking "down the block" or "across the country"? More importantly, is it a flat route or are there hills & mountains?

Personally I wouldn't. That capacity is too close to the weight of the Rivian. What about the other way around? Towing the Lincoln with the Riv? ?

I am guessing this is for s longer distance tow. Your likely to exceed the tow ratings of the Lincoln with the trailer and the Rivian.

You also need to know the tongue weight rating and how much weight will be on the tongue. If your moving and the Lincoln is loaded up with stuff you will not be able to tow much. The curb weight subtracted from the GVWR is your max load. That includes fuel, people, stuff, and any weight you put on the tongue.

Over 5,000 lbs you will need a hitching setup that is able to distribute the weight of the load for maximum safety.

I wouldn't do it since exceeding the rating can be unsafe and/or damage the tow vehicle.
