Getting to 18k miles soon.
Does my estimated miles look normal?
Will it cgo up if I drive at 65 mph for next 5k?

All Purpose 99%
75-80 mph on highways
20 AT at 47-48 psi 100%
SoCal area temperature

Greater speed = higher aero drag and more expenditure of energy. Fossil fuel burning cars are the same. And, every car as their own optimal performance parameters. So, going super slow isn’t necessarily efficient, because you’re making less progress per each unit of energy spent.

I'm at 9200 miles with an average of 2.24 mi/kWh. My range estimate is sitting at 288 miles for a full charge in AP mode (that's what I drive in 98% of the time). I also do relatively little highway driving, but a lot of the surface streets I drive are 55 mph. I think my average speed on the trip meter is showing just under 30 mph.

The navigation system‘s range estimation seems to always assume you’ll drive the speed limit. If you drive slower, it will slowly give you “more range remaining at your destination” as you will gradually be at higher state of charge than it thinks you should be at that point; but it won’t recalculate the rest of the trip accounting for the higher efficiency. There’s no way to tell it “calculate based on going 10 MPH under the limit” just as there’s no way to tell it “calculate based on going 10 MPH over the limit.”

So, “Range Estimates based on your driving history” will never change no matter how I drive going forward?

The nav does a better job of incorporating your driving history than your main screen/GoM. At least in my experience any way. I'm on 20s also and my GoM is 322 miles at 100 percent conserve and 289 AP. I asked a tech how GoM number was calculated and he said it is a "software number". Whatever that means. In the end it doesn't matter. There are so many variables in your range you can never account for all of them. Besides weather the two biggest are speed (yes 65 mph will greatly improve range over 75. Tested that one myself) and suspension height. You on auto or manual?

It can supposedly go up but won't ever go below the rated range.

Yes. My full range in AP has gone up from 452km to 477km. I think I can thank my wife for that honestly, cause she isn't nearly as spirited a driver. And despite her barely driving it, it's had an impact.

For clarity
Orginally 280 miles
Currently 296 miles.

All Purpose, 20" wheels and underbody protection. 8,700 miles driven

I find the range estimate as only being useful as a starting point. I don't think they respond quickly to current conditions. But they do seem to adjust with lots of driving. Also they have changed how they work with the last couple of software updates so few of us will have enough time to answer your question well.
Yes, driving slower will significantly increase your range, especially with a trailer.

The max range speed is probably in the area of 40mph. Faster when it's cold and you run the heater. Slower when no heating or cooling of the cab or battery is needed.

My suggestion is to reset your history. If it still says 273 in AP then you might have a software issue going on. A reset history should show somewhere around 288-289 for the 20” wheel in AP.

273 is the number before Rivian released more of the pack and some other efficiency updates over a couple OTA updates earlier this year.

Yep. Once you get going, your range will start to reflect your driving speed and conditions (temp, wind, etc). Just drove up to Boone from Hendersonville and my ending miles went from an initial 169 to 201 upon arrival.

Assume you are talking about the Nav screen. That is always the best place to look/monitor. The GoM is just that....a guess and it really doesn't matter (doesn't mean it isn't annoying). The GoM and Nav screen will come together.

Yes, change max speed from 75 mph to 60 mph and efficiency and range would improve by 20% - in theory √(60^2/75^2). 15% better at 65 mph.

This is why in 1973 the federal max speed limit was set to 55 mph (to conserve fuel).

example - 2 drivers set out to a supercharger 180 miles away. First drives 60 mph and achieves 2.5 mi/kWh. Arrives in 3 hours. Other driver goes 75 and gets there in 2:24 (36 min faster). First driver uses 72 kWh ($36). Second driver uses 90 kWh ($45).

Speed matters.
