I‘m driving to DE next month and have started planning the route with charging. There is a RAN charger at the Christiana mall. Anyone have the cost of charging there? Ive never used a RAN charger before (or any as I always charge at home) so curious what the cost per kWh is. Thanks

I travel a lot, paid zero at RAN, have 5,500 miles. Some level 2 chargers charge I have heard. But I have only charged at one of them since I bought my R1T.

Still free. Was supposed to end after April. No idea why Rivian is dragging their feet on it.

Free and they work great! Would be nice if they had one local to me.

I used the Broomfield, CO RAN charger last night and it is still on the house. Worked great. Hooked up and instantly started charging. Maxed at 216kWh.

I have charged at 2 RANs and they are both free. When we picked our R1T up in May, the guide said that the FREE charging ended at the end of April (3 days before we picked up). We were bummed, but my brother-in-law has an R1T and he said he was still charging for free. So, I charge up at the 2 RANs on my way home. I just charged at the one in Sacramento on Wednesday night (10-11-2023).

So, it is free until it isn't.

Why do you sound mad about it? lol. This is a feature I hope they never deliver (requiring payment)
I'm also a shareholder (and also drive other non-Rivian EVs occasionally). RJ has said RAN will eventually be a profit center for Rivian.

I'm over 6000 miles in less than 3 months and I've still spent $0 to charge. This is thanks to almost all of my charging being at RANs, one of which I'm lucky enough to have in my town. The rest has been at other random free (sometimes slow level 2) chargers I've found. Only exception is a little while staying at a relatives, which is technically 0.10/kwh.

As a shareholder I understand needing to monetize these eventually, but as someone without a lot of $ I hope it doesn't happen for as long as possible. And I do also think providing these for free helps to build the brand here in the still early stage so it makes sense even from a business perspective to delay it - and use it as a perk of buying a Rivian - until a lot more people are driving Rivian's, when the income will be more significant. Also opening them up to non-Rivians. Maybe do this all around the same time that we get NACS access some time next year.

They have monetized Sacramento RAN. I went yesterday. Does this mean no more free RAN charging everywhere? So sad!

Yes, it is currently the same price as EA with the monthly pass pricing.

Edit: In California, Rivian is still cheaper at that price than driving a vehicle getting 20 MPG.

"20 mpg" lol

These vehicles are sold as getting around 70 mpg equivalent.

They should have at least given us a Rivian owner membership subscription deal, for a couple bucks a month and like $0.18/kWh or something so we could add least get close to something like 40mpg-e.

Maybe open them up and charge non Rivian's 0.36 for now, sure.
