Thank you Rivian for adding a steering wheel control to open and close garage doors. This is very much appreciated. My one gripe, steering wheel controls also stop the movement of the drivers seat. It never fails, I get in my truck, my seat starts to move into position, I close my garage door, my seat stops causing me to go into my driver profile to finish moving my seat into position.

It only takes 2.3 seconds, however, it is an unnecessary 2.3 seconds. Rivian, can we make the garage door steering wheel control not cancel the seat movement? Or am I being too picky?

Too picky. I don't think I've moved my seats one time in six months of ownership. "Set it and forget it". ?? #grin

I was just about to add a ticket in for this as well though, for me, it's the steering wheel moving from the easy entry position to the driving position that is impacted.

Not too picky. One should have no impact on the other.

I’ve noticed this behavior as well but couldn’t figure out what caused it. Thanks

I use the Easy Entry mode for entering and exiting my R1T. Maybe it makes me feel fancy. Maybe I’m too old and need the extra couple of inches to make it easier. Maybe I just like to go for a ride before going for a ride. I favor the feature and like to use it. But maybe I am being too picky about the seat movements being stopped. It is only a slight inconvenience, if any at all.

This exactly is my mention.

Its that hard to get out you need the steering wheel to move. Just asking for the motor to wear out. People are so soft now. If you parked on the garage you would have tine to close

I might agree with you, but this is definitely a software bug they should fix and probably just got missed in testing. And if Rivian thought it would wear out the motor inside of the warranty period, they wouldn't have implemented it.

Software quirk that drives me nuts, is my steering wheel about every week or two, forgetting the top limits. I have to go into my profile, crank the steering all the way down, to then adjust it back up out of my lap to have the upper limits reset.

Also, Rivian... When coming out of roomy entry/exit please make the seat/steering movement happen simultaneously upon placing my foot on the brake to start driving. I've run into the issue where the seats slowly moving one piece at a time, it finally gets in position and I begin driving, but the steering hasn't fully come back to place, then I have to go into the menu while driving to adjust the wheel out and away from the dash. Minor gripe, but happens often.

I don't think it is that hard to get in/out of my truck with the steering wheel in its position. If Rivian believed the motor would wear out prematurely, they would not have added this feature, or an electronically moving steering wheel at all. Many, if not all, car manufacturers are implementing this same feature in their vehicles currently. Not such a big ask for Rivian to also maintain this feature, while also not impending on any other features.

As for the garage, it would be great if I could park inside my garage. Would you like to come help me extend the front of my house by about 4 feet so that I can easily park my truck inside. That would have been a great feature to have a month ago when I was hit with golfball sized hail...

I too have experienced this a couple of time, but definitely not as often as you. I think it is the little things that should be worked out to make everything work together seamlessly.

I'm curious if this is a safety issue. Stopping easy entry by pushing a button on steering wheel is by design. Need a quick, fail proof way to stop it if you're quickly approaching being squished against the dash. Similar to kneel being canceled.

Imagine being in that situation but also having to remember its the left 3 buttons, not the right 3.

Safety trumps convenience here. (FWIW, I'm using safety lightly as I don't see it as a big deal but the lawyers will see it as more important w/r/t litigation risk)

So your car doesn’t have power windows or steering? No windshield wipers? Or you just use your horse to get from point a to point b? Or just walk?

People are too soft but not you, right tough guy?

I think this is a valid point. However, doing a quick search on other manufacturers, I don't see any 'stop' procedure for their entry and exit seat movements. I would also think that the seat had some kind of safety feature already built in that prevented the seat from continuing to move if there was a certain level of restraint being applied. I think both sides could be argued here.

Just happened to me this morning. The seat started moving and I hit the button on the wheel to open the garage and as near as I can tell the steering wheel didn't move, but the seat had finished. I'm fairly certain the exit/entry mode on my Corvette moves both the seat and the wheel at the same time, but for some reason Rivian does them independently so it takes longer.

For me, when the steering wheel doesn't reach it's intended position, the profile restore option isn't available. I can't get the memory function back until I trigger the Easy Entry/Exit feature again.

My steering wheel will creep down a notch or two over time as well. Super annoying.
