These are the R1S patch notes. It could still be in the R1T release but don't get your hopes up.
Seems it would be more efficient to have one set of release notes and just identify in the notes, where something specific applies exclusively to the R1T or R1S. Sort of like alot of owners manuals for vehicles. Not one for each version of the vehicle version.

Screen clean mode. We've had that for ages. Select: Camping-->Turn off. When you want your screens back, press the brake pedal. You can clean for way more than 5 minutes. This is also a great mode for detailing and cleaning.
Not quite the same. Touching the screen turns it back on, and the items on the screen are still selectable even if you can't see them.

I gave a hypothetical example of something that could plausibly be blocking deployment of this feature. To be clear, I DON'T KNOW what problems and constraints Rivian has to deal with here. Neither does anyone else in this thread. I'm sure there are solutions to most of the problems, whatever they are, but that's not the point. The point is simply that the poster clearly doesn't have any idea what challenges Rivian faces with this, so it's a bit patronizing to say it's "easy" and "should be simple".
I hear ya. My point was that they should implement some of those solutions if they've thought of them. Though in this case Rivian clearly said the slow down was getting the camera approved for that use. So my solution should suffice for the interim until they get it approved. Would most people hate it? Possibly, but it could be a box to check in settings if you want to enable it.

All i know is that new ACC mode based on speed limit will be useless in northern Illinois. On the highways we have 2 speed limits posted, one for cars, the other for semis(trucks over 4 tons, shhh) and buses.

The R1 picks up the speed limit for the trucks and buses all the time.

Why is it that we ask for something simple...resume set speed for cruise...and Rivian tries to make things complicated and worse!? We just want 65 to resume at 65, 42 at 42, etc. What about roads for which the nav doesn't know the speed limit? Does it revert to just setting the current speed?

I wonder if there is some sort of offset to the 'Speed Limit' setting for ACC.
Seriously...if no speed offset, it's useless.

Rivian, if you're making sport mode less sporty, can we get an even sportier mode like track mode pretty please?
Ugh...I sure hope they don't dumb down sport mode without giving us access to the hardcore mode.

All of this talk about the rear view cameras makes me wonder how I ever was able to back my vehicles up. The old school rear view camera was glancing over your shoulder…. Sure the cameras are a nice addition but old school still works…??
Just don’t lift your butt!

It will read the speed limit signs.

I've been on plenty of roads where it literally shows nothing in the driver display for speed limits.
It will do that if it does not see a speed limit sign. Watch next time for a sign and you will see it show up when you drive by one.

I have seen the speed limit disappear as well if it sees a temp speed limit like a school zone after passing the zone if it does not know the speed as well.

Yep. It will go off of the speed limit data and signs it reads. It also seems to time out if a new sign isn't read within a certain amount of time, but it does seem to vary at times.

If the limit is 4 tons it's quite possible your truck is insulting you and your passengers by a few pounds ?

I should record what mine reads sometimes. Suddenly on the freeway it'll display something like 13 mph, and I'm pretty sure I've seen it display mid 90 mph before. Makes me wonder what adaptive cruise is going to do after that. It also has no concept of signs that say "35 mph" with "ENDS" below it, which is frustratingly common around here and after having mapbox fix the issue on their side, the truck still displays the wrong thing. (And I think mapbox ended up reverting it too)

Is anyone really going to use the default speed setting for ACC? It’s the headlining improvement and really it’s something I’d never bother with.

The biggest improvement, IMO, is the 25% improvement in vampire drain. That’s progress IMO. The ride improvements may be a bigger deal but Iā€˜ll have to drive for a bit before I decide.

Phone integration continues to be a sore spot for Rivian’s software. Some additional button controls is a minor improvement but Rivian is still missing key features like texting and even audio over USB.

And still no Netflix/Youtube/Disney+/etc./etc./etc.
How hard is it to make a webapp? How about just enabling a web browser with shortcuts built in?
