4% Back on Charging with Costco Card

Just an FYI for folks, the other day I was looking at my Costco rewards and noticed they’ve updated the 4% category on their credit card to include charging now as well as gas purchases. Now they need to add chargers to all their locations!! ?

They have been doing for awhile (at least until May of this year, probably alot earlier). The question that a lot of us Costco devotes ask is why they wouldn't just install some Costco fast chargers. They had chargers at one time, but got rid of them. Heck have it tied to CostCo membership and get some more members. Imagine a CostCo sized bank of 20 or 30 fast chargers or even replace a couple of the gas pumps with fast chargers to incentive for folks to charge and move to a marking spot.

I had been down on Costco recently as they built a BJs near me and I no longer needed the gas benefit (saved my butt in Europe this summer, though, thanks to no international transaction fees). Now that they've got 4% back and they're building a new warehouse closer to me, they're back on top baby! I don't expect they'll have any chargers, but I'll update if they do!

While I have absolutely zero information to say this: Expect Costco to add charge slots at some point probably sooner rather than later. We just need a critical mass of EV adoption first.

They've offered this benefit for at least a year. I set up all my charging network accounts to use my Costco card for this reason.

They just opened a new Costco in July near me. It has maybe 6 EA stalls. So they're at least going that direction.

Costco wouldn't be my first choice as a place to charge, but it wouldn't be my last choice either.

That should be a "no-brainer". There are 3 Costco's within 30 mins. of us and it would be a nice benefit to plug in, buy your stuff and come out fully charged. It is a WIN WIN for Costco and EVers.
