Since the last two updates when I start driving, the AC automatically go on "turbo mode" super loud. It will not get off turbo mode for the duration of my drive even when I lower the fan speed. To get rid of the turbo, I have to turn the AC off wait for it to shut down for a few seconds then turn it back on for the turbo mode to go away. FYI. Been 100 plus in Texas for a month or two now
Is this sounds familar and can the sc fix this?

Others have reported, and I have have been told by the service center rep that this is a known issue that Rivian is currently working on a solution.

In Scottsdale... I have an appointment this week at the SC to get this issue checked. I'll let you know if they make any changes. I don't care about the turbo noise... I just want to be cold. Sometimes the AC works great (even with it is 115)... but some days it really struggles.

This is the same as me. It worked great at times but not consistent. The noise is quite bothersome when you park. It is kind of embarrassing to be honest.

Complicated answer: I just moved back to Scottsdale from Seattle. R1S arrived in June(Seattle SC delivery) and immediately made an appointment for a few issues but Oct was the earliest the Bellevue SC could get me in. Three weeks ago I moved and shipped the R1S down to AZ. I also "moved" my scheduled SC appt to the Phoenix SC but they are about 6 weeks out for an appointment. BUT.. I reached out regarding the AC issues and they managed to fit me in in about a week. My issue isn't the noise... it is more the lack of cooling at times... doesn't work well for picking the kids up from school when it is 115 and the car can't cool down.

When I first got my truck, I had a loud sound as well. I hadn’t heard it until just recently. As you mentioned just following update. When it happened in the very beginning, the tech told me that it was the AI software learning about the cooling of the batteries. I wonder if this is actually a battery cooling issue rather than the AC. Maybe the software reset some history on the battery cooling stats.
Mine seems fine now.

Yup...A/C noises and my clickety clacky popping half-shafts, and this truck mainly stays in the garage till my SC appointment to tell me everything is normal. Its embarrassing to drive through any shopping center.

Yup. Despite all the testing Rivian did, the R1S can't handle the extreme heat. It's definitely trying to keep the battery cool. I did an experiment for a couple days when it was 110+ in Phx and did not turn on the AC (cabin temps 130+) for 20 mins on the way home from work. The efficiency was nearly as bad (1.6-1.7 miles/kwh) as when the AC was on weed whacker turbo mode.
Love the R1S otherwise, but they need to figure this AC out. Worse, the Service Center delayed me 3 more weeks after waiting 6 weeks already. You are lucky they got you in to SC. I spoke to two different people pleading to get in sooner. They said I can leave the vehicle there for 3 weeks, but they can't do sooner. 9 weeks waiting for service with AC issues in 110°F+ Phx heat was the last straw for me.

RJ- I might buy an R2 without a giant glass sunroof that radiates heat into the cabin. Still a Rivian fan and (underwater) stockholder.
